I've asked this before but PLEASE use the 2 slots available for 2 different Goalkeeper kits, there should always be a change of colour to avoid kit clashes.

Hello

I`m member of a dutch pro evo site and many of our users are not convinced by the multiplayer aspect of the game.
But then again, not much is known at this state of time.

The main question is about the 2vs2 mode in PES2010, we all know it will be there. Including 2 persons on the same console and 2 persons on 2 xbox/ps3. We don`t know the rest, will there for example be a 2vs2 leaderboard. We all love stats and rankings, including a 2vs2 ranking.

Has someone got some inside information about this?

this really is a big deal, it looks utterly ridiculous would never happen in real life, where is the realism? if you pay for licenses implement them, mind you it probably only takes a few hours to do a gk kit! amazing mistake!

For PES 2011 and beyond

Firstly I would like to say pes2010 is a step in the right direction and the addictiveness is back. But for the future id like to see:

1) Newer and more animations
2) More free passing (although improved in pes2010

Thats all i personally think is needed to make the greatest pes and bring back old modes and even more depth in edit mode in relation to accessories.

And please please do not take anything out of pes2010 just add and build on it

I agree with this totally.

I've noticed in the last few PES games that, of the licenced teams, the likes of Japan, South Korea, England, Netherlands and Argentina have had two goalkeeper kits in different colours. However after watching the edit mode video on YouTube I noticed that in the strip editor, instead of having "goalkeeper 1st" and "goalkeeper 2nd" to edit like in all previous PES games, in PES2010 it just has "goalkeeper".

Really cannot understand why Konami have done this, you don't see a goalkeeper wearing just the same colour kit in real life do you? It's a bit like FIFA, only one keeper kit for any team that has one.

Anyone from WENB able to confirm if the licenced national teams I've mentioned above have more than one keeper kit in the game?

Konami,

The biggest mission for you guys is to really work on those animations. I have tried to fight the corner for PES 2010 to my friends but they keep on saying it looks like a PS2 game and that FIFA looks the complete package. You really need to bring back the smoothness and variaty that PES once had. At a stand still the game looks phenominal but at in motion it's not smooth and transitions between animations are not seamless.

I also agree with kit selection why is there not an option to change the GK kits considering the Real Madrid ones clash, Reina's clashes with the refs. GKs change their strips and this needs to be rectified.

Third kits are a must if you're going to have the CL and EL licences, The amount of clashes are too frequent.

STOP taking options out like mix and match kits, short socks, short shorts, WCQ mode and whittling down the edit mode.

I know you have licensing issues but can you not even have the fakes teams kits bear some resemblance to the real thing because the Arsenal kit looks rubbish and it loses even more realisim when you have to play in all red online.

You're AI needs to be a bit more urgent when they go a goal down, they don't want to be passing the ball around their half in the 88th minute.
TALK IS CHEAP SO IT'S TIME TO SHOW YOU GOT GAME KONAMI?

Individuality, Excitement, unpredictability and emotion.

Anyone notice Van der Sar wearing all blue against Bolton yesterday? keepers have 2 kits for a reason. there is going to be dozens of kit clashes in pes 2010, it need sorting out. I will go through the retail version when I have it and send it Konami, there will be hundreds of instances throughout the game. Cant understand why konami had to change from previous versions

Hi,

I've been playing PES/ISS since the very beginning (SNES) and throughout the evolution of the series there have been some up and downs. Firstly I would like to say that I love the game but over the last few years my loyalty has been severely tested and this year will be the first that I buy FIFA instead of PES. I felt that since PES 2008 the game has taken a direction that I can no longer agree with. For too long it feels as though Konami just expected their loyal fan base to buy whatever they threw at us regardless of how cheap and reworked their new product may have seemed, and to a degree this has happened. Many people just count themselves as PES to the core and that means they just buy PES regardless of what happens. I was one of those people, but no longer. The following will explain why I'm making the decision to purchase FIFA 2010 over PES 2010.

Firstly, there are a number of problems which remain embedded in each PES game since PES 6.

They are:

1). Pathfinding issues : Passes and shots are restricted to pre-set ball paths which means there is lack of user-control of the ball.

2). Advantage play : Where your team play exceptionally well for a while then after a period of time they then begin to play really badly with the opposition gaining the 'advantage' for an allocated period of time. During the period of negative advantage things seem really unfair, balls will deflect wickedly out of favor, your players will seem sluggish. To add to this the controls will also fail at times (run ability doesn't work momentarily to allow 'catch-up' etc). This despondency can often lead to players running into one another (I call this the 'Keystone cops' period), pass opportunities are severly restricted and your players don't move into space. Changes in pace will also occur, slow players by default are suddenly able to outrun faster players. Overall, most of these issues result in you losing the ball, through no fault of the user.

3). Automated player behavior : This problem has only crept into the series since PES 2008 but is growing with each addition. This involves players doing their own thing, whether it be slide tackles you never made, clearances that you had no control over (i.e. You didn't press the button yet the player in your control kicks the ball out of touch), little touches and tricks that are completely out of user-control (i.e. Players taking extra touches of the ball when you have not executed any such command). This usually results in the user losing the ball, again through no fault of the user.

The other changes made to the game, i.e. interface, etc, to me are not important, having an interface or glossy graphics or having the proper keeper kits are trivial in comparison to the above. Why should these be important if the game isn't good?

On the whole, I feel that with each new addition to the the series user-control is slowly diminishing to the point where it is not so much your skill that enables you to win but rather the 'advantage' output. When I play a game I want 100% control over what I do, I don't want the computer making choices for me when I have not issued any such command.

It gets tiring to play people who are not as good but are nevertheless presented with goal-scoring opportunities via no fault of the better player. I know why Konami do this (to give everyone a chance) but in fairness this lack of total user-control added with the problem of advantage play is something that I felt should have been taken out of the game a long time ago, sadly it remains as strong if not stronger than ever.

Don't get me wrong I loved the series up until PES 2009, but the game is taking a direction that I can no longer agree with, Konami seem more occupied with the aesthetics of the game than the actual gameplay, which is tragic because FIFA are doing the complete opposite. Over the years FIFA have paid attention and tried hard to make positive changes, but in the past PES gameplay would always triumph. Konami's newfound infatuation with trying to compete with FIFA in this area is silly because its clear the gameplay has suffered. If I remember correctly, Electronic Arts (FIFA) was always good at delivering strong interfaces and intros with all the added whistles and bells but the actual game itself would be poor. While Konami (PES) on the other hand, would be the opposite, employing cheap looking interfaces with no licensing etc, but the important thing was that the gameplay would always be far superior. Now this trend has all but faded and there has been a complete turnaround with Konami now occupying themselves with creating new interfaces and glossy graphics however at the expense of gamplay, whereas FIFA (already good at the visual gloss) have made serious changes to their games' gameplay. I haven't played/bought FIFA 2010 yet, but from what I hear from some of my most hardcore PES friends who have played PES 2010, they tell me that its rubbish compared to the new FIFA 2010, they say that the things which normally make a FIFA poor have been removed.

Thanks Konami for all the years of fun...

I noticed that too, even I used to play in goal and know for a fact if I wore a white shirt against a team wearing white, I would be asked by the referee to change. It has been a problem in previous PES games to be honest, look at Benfica in PES6 for a classic case of the goalkeeper and the players wearing almost identical kits, but the issue is even worse now that Konami seem to have only set one kit for the goalkeeper even for unlicenced teams (despite 2 slots still being available!).

It's not as if it's hard work for Konami to research the second keeper kit and get their graphics designers to make it in Photoshop or whatever and put it in the game, is it? For most second keeper kits its merely a case of open the kit template, change a few colours and away to go. People in the editing community have done it so easily for years.

I really cannot think any licencing issues would affect having a second keeper kit, if that was the reasoning for its non-inclusion surely?

I've had a look inside the PC version(demo) with GGS and there are 2 files for all the keeper kits in demo, all identical!!
Surely this could be fixed with DLC, gonna be a hell of a lot of kit clashes in crowded penalty areas!!

Some things that need fixed and/or improved for PES 2011.

1. Physical play- collisions, aerial collisions , shoulder charging, jostling.
2. Animations -new set needed and lots of variety eg running, tackle (stand, slide and block), heading, dribbling, quick turns and passing.
3. More responsive goalkeeper with new animations. Less parrying of shots into forwards path for tap in goal.
4. Goalkeeper should be able to throw and kick ball to teammates quickly. Also, on goal kicks the keeper should be able to pass short to any of his defence or wingers.
5. Throw ins. Runs and off ball movement needed. Player should decide who the ball is thrown to. Also, more jostling and movement in penalty area for long throws.
6. Passing. Needs to feel less restrictive with more directional freedom. Also,a low driven pass type would be good for players like Gerrard and Lampard who like to spray the ball around the field.
7. Players must be able to challenge the goalkeeper for aerial balls (crosses and throws) in the penalty area.
8. Home AND away goalkeeper jerseys to prevent kit clashes with the referee.
9. A greater variety of boots eg Mizuno, Lotto, Asics, Diadora and Reebok.
10. More empty blocks for importing player faces on edit mode.

Dear Konami:
This is what needs to be improved in order of importance in my oppinion:

  • - NEW animations
    1st for the normal players
2nd for the goalkeeper...animations that allow the goalkeeper to push the ball to the side more often!
  • - NEW animations
  • - NEW animations
  • - goalie has to be better when he's leaving the goal
  • - look at these statistics for example http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/spiel ... daten.html -> You have to include something like this at some point...maybe it's already included this time. Add more statistics for the individual players of the team and for the team to the Master League, like for example number of games played a season, times being substituted, times being a substitue, and for example how minutes a player needs to score a goal (!) (just add together all the minutes he played and divide it by the number of the goals scored...it's not so difficult but it'd be AMAZING)
  • - more tactical options for defending (for example that the midfield is playing pretty much as a 2nd back four that is more offensive when the other team has possesion of the ball)
  • - let the ingame shots have more sverve from time to time
  • - refferee has to learn the passive offside rule again
  • - more slots for faces, banners, chants etc. & more faces, jerseys etc. to chose from
  • - add Europa League as a single mode like Champions League
  • - add ingame practices to Master League and Become a Legend (like the practice mode in the main menu) and add drills to that or let the coach teach the players where to run at a set piece etc.
  • - allow a quick throw in for counter attacks without cut scene or anything so that the opponent can just move back while the game is loading!!
  • - specify the injuries
  • - more cut scenes (for example have a half naked guy run on the field once a season :P, new cut scenes for injuries...)
  • - make a way that you DON'T have to include the Dutch and the French league into your master league so if you want to create the German league yourself for example you can put that in the master league instead

I might actually edit this list at some point but now something that I'd REALLY enjoy:

I'd LOVE to see something like this in future versions of the game:

I don't know about different countries but indoor soccer is really common during the winter break in Germany. The teams from the Bundesliga play indoor soccer in the winter and you can even watch tournaments on tv. It's really a lot of fun cause you can see a lot of great individual class and a lot of nice goals!
This would add a completely new dimension to PES!!

First of all this could be played in single player mode and would be lots of fun. I still have FIFA 98 and did play it again about 1 year ago just to see how the indoor games were. They are just amazing! It'd be lots of fun against friends because you can beat friends you usually don't have a chance against by being lucky because the field is so much smaller and you get chances more easily. There's a lot of random stuff happening during those games because of the walls on the sides. Another thing is that if you just make lets say 4 "stadiums" for this and you give all of them a different theme the game's variety would be so much bigger!!
(wooden like in Fifa/ http://pruh.w.interia.pl/FIFA98.jpg
fake grass/ http://www.sportalm-scheidegg.de/img/in ... tlicht.JPG
normal gym/ http://www.maulbronn.de/relaunch/grafik ... 300807.jpg
normal gym blue/ http://www.sportfreunde-stuttgart.de/im ... halle3.JPG )
So yeah, lets say you have this in the friendly games mode now. Why not add it to the usual Master League season and Become A Legend season as well like it is in German soccer. Your Master League team could maybe join on tournament or play a Single game against a different team during the Winter Break and additionally they could host one so the Master League coaches can do some organizing as well by inviting other teams. Also it'd be easy to fit two or even three tournaments in the winter break as these tournaments usually only take 2-3 days because usually 4, sometimes 8 teams are invited. It'd be so much fun to have this. In Become A Legend this would be a chance for the player to show off some tricks as it's always great to do tricks when you play soccer indoor. Also the atmosphere would probably be great!! Usually during these games you have the stadium announcer talking a lot. This could actually be in English, different to the stadium announcer during normal games on real soccer fields in PES. He could tell the fans to cheer a bit more or announce how much time there's left to play. Or it'd be great if he'd just say some stuff when players score goals which will happen a lot probably. When there's only one minute left to play of course he has to announce that too. In the real life indoor games in Germany a lot of times there's some music playing in the last minute that has the meaning of the song "it's the final countdown" (for example). Then when only ten seconds are left a lot of times the fans actually start counting down. That would just add SOOO much atmosphere to the game. It'd be incredible and it'd be TONS of fun!! Last but not least another thing that i'd like about this because of adding a bigger variety to the game is the fact that you can substitute as much as you want, the number of players on the field is between 5 and 7 I believe (depending on how big the field is), and the fact that the players don't do throw ins when the ball actually jumps over the barrier but instead they roll or pass the ball into the field.

So please guys from Konami. Atleast take a look at this and maybe comment on it. It's probably nothing that will be added to the new PES, maybe not to the one after that either, but just imagine how much more dimension it'd add to the game, and it'd be A LOT of fun!!

Dear Konami,

Bring back the ability for a friend to control a COM team during a tournament. If we have friends over one evening to enjoy a World Cup Tournament or whatever, it's no fun standing around while you watch one mate play a COM team. This feature was present before '08 and for some reason was taken out and missing ever since. Bring it back.

Now that graphics of the PES series have been improved immensely, it's time for the focus to switch to gameplay.

1. 360° movement. Players should be able to move freely, without restriction, in all areas of the pitch.
2. 360° passing. Players should be able to pass the ball in any direction, and passing types should be more varied eg cushion headed pass, chest pass into path of oncoming runner, also a low driven pass for players like Gerrard and Xabi Alonso to spray the ball around the pitch.
3. Physical play. Realistic collisions, including aerial challenges between players vying for a header, should be implemented. Also, other physical aspects of football such as jostling and shoulder charging must be included.
4. Animations. These need overhauled, from running to jockeying, heading, crossing, turning while in possession of the ball, tackling, passing, shooting and dribbling.
5. Shielding. Players should be able to turn away from opposing players in any direction while shielding the ball to maintain possession. Hold up play is important.
6. Goalkeepers. Need improved AI and must be more responsive in all situations. Keepers should be able to make a save and push the ball behind for a corner or away from onrushing attackers to prevent too many easy tap in goals. Also, keepers should not be beaten easily while defending the near post. Keepers should also be able to throw and kick the ball out a lot quicker.
7. Set Pieces - Throw Ins. Players should be able to throw the ball in any direction and to a variety of players. Off the ball runs by players need including. Long throws into the penalty area should be possible with plenty of jostling for position between attackers and defenders.
Goal kicks - The keeper should be able to pass the ball on the ground to any of his defenders and not only the nearest defender to him. Also on goal kicks the keeper should be able to play a lofted pass to a player close to him.
8. Injuries. These should be more varied in exhibition mode to include the likes of hamstring strain, head collision, twisted ankle etc. A cut scene of a player indicating to his manager that he needs to be substituted would be nice.

Hi,

I played the game since the first version of Winning Eleven, when the graphics was terrible, but the thing I loved was the game play.

Since I discovered winning eleven, I thought every version of the game prior to PES, and then every version of PES since then.

What I love about PES are:
1. Game play for me is the most important part of the game and PES game play is unrivaled!
2. Managerial - ability to be able to buy and sell players
3. Graphics - getting better and better
4. Kits - ability to update/edit kits

What I don't like about PES so far:
1. It is not simulating real life soccer and competition. What I mean by that is, there are different leagues around the world, Barclay's Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, etc. I want to be able to play a team from the Barclay's Premier League (NOT Master League as there is no such league in real life) and automatically qualify for UEFA Champions League or Europa League. Currently, I have to setup a master league and select all the teams from, say, Barclay's Premier League and play in the master league, instead of playing from the Premier League. I know that this league has been there since the days, but it is time to move forward and simulate as close to real life competition as possible. For me, this would be awesome.

2. Do you sometimes see a screen grab of a match where a striker is going for goal, and the defenders on the opposing teams look as though they don't care at all if it goes in or not. The expressions on their faces are lifeless. In real life, there would defenders throwing themselves in front to block the shot and anxious expressions on their faces as they watch the shot. It would be awesome to introduce expressions to players' faces.

3. Online play is unplayable for me since the addition of online. Hence, it is useless for me!

4. Too predictable - what I mean by this is, sometimes in real life, the managers cannot control a player's aggression or what a player is going to do during the game. For example, Rooney talking back to referees and resulted in yellow cards or the time when he stepped on Ronaldo's leg during the world cup, players reacting to tackles, etc. This is something we cannot control and it would bring unpredictability to the game. These players, I guess, should have an attribute, so when you buy them, you need to be aware. It's an idea.

5. Tackles - any tackles that resulted in a slight touch to the opponent's foot/leg is a free kick. This is really frustrating, especially when the tackle was from the side, instead of from behind. However, I played the demo, and noticed that it is improved so much and haven't able to re-produce this.

I would love to one day see these above improvements to PES. Other than that, I still love the game, especially the game play. You guys did a great job on the game, especially this year's version (2010).

Cheers,
Vando.
