PES 2010 Response Issues Feedback

in pes 2010 demo for the pc version
i feel that the game is much more optimized for 4:3 like "800-600" "1024-768" "720-576" resolutions
and is NOT optimized for wide screen resolution 16:9 such as "1280-720"

for those who suggest turning of v-sync for the pc version
this may cause monitor tearing because v-sync is very important to adjust the frame rate of the game with the monitor refresh rate "whether LCD or CRT screen"
turning of the v-sync causes the frame rate of the game is higher than the maximum refresh rate of the screen causes some frames to reacehs the monitor before the last frame to finish which causes the new frame to override the last frame , combination of both frames at the same moment causes the screen tearing and this is very evident is LCD screens and the old CRT screens

moreover , v-sync cause some sort of relieving the load work on the video card "nvidia or ATI " SO it will be noticed that turning of the v-sync will have bad effects on the video card as a result of increased temperature "overheating"

so that for those having LCD screens and evident tearing with tuning off the v-sync , lowering the resolution of the game to any other 4:3 resolution will fasten the game play and apparently decrease the evident slow responsiveness much more with turning off the v-sync which has dangerous drawbacks on the vga card

that means that the solution for the pc version is exactly like the solution for the ps3 version , just lower the resolution to any 4:3 resolution without the need for turning off the important v-ync

, and as i said above that the game feels like more optimized for 4:3 resolutions

For me, the response times for passes and shots are not ok when:

- The player is under pressure
- The player is doing turns (in some movements)

I wonder if this is not a bug, but instead an option of Konami to reduce response times in certain situations to increase the difficulty of passing when for example a player is under pressure. If this is true (probably not), I have to say that in this case it’s a bad option, because in real life when a player is under pressure what is mainly affected it’s the decision making process. Anyway, upgrade the response times in the situations I have mentioned and I think problem will disappear. My opinion…

I think it is but would like Konami to come out and tell us this is the case

it think the response isnt an issue. it's a matter of player stats. if your pass to let's say silva he wont have the same response as when you pass it to ibra or messi or someone with good response...it's like in real football...love it.

Ok, tried the game on a 4:3 resolution (vsync ON) and it seems much more responsible. Im convinced this is the intended way fot the game to be played.

This is somewhat sad for me, cause I loved that great slow pace wide resolutions give. The faster pace makes the game feels kind of .. standard/ordinary.. like any other soccer game that came before. While the slower pace gave it a very distinct feel, like a "thinking-man´s" soccer or something. Oh well..

Is there somebody else that felt disappointed about this, or is ti just me?

so u agree with me that the game is more optimized for 4:3 resolutions without the need to turn off the v-sync

If youre playing in 4:3 (PC) / 720 (Consoles) resolution, I agree with you. But then the games gets faster speed, which a lot of people here dont like. For these people - who prefer slower speed - the response time is broken.

I know, by the evidence gathered by now, that the 4:3 / 720 res´s faster play seems to be the gamaplay intended by the developers. But I can hope cant I? (at least untill some official statement comes around saying "the game isnt supported on wide / 1080 resolutions!" ;) ).

but if i tell you that the game hasnt response issues that the solution is you have to complete change your way how to play, after 2 shitty versions(you know which one i mean) it's frustraiting but as soon as you get the same old feeling of PES3-5 back you'll love it. I'm talking about the PS3 version here.

but a great famous footy game like pes should NOT has such huge difference in the gameplay speed at different resolution conditions
the game must have a single well-defined balanced gameplay speed "not very slow and not very fast"
this speed must be optimized to be constant
with any resolution
otherwise konami will get huge trouble considering online mode because users with different resolutions will have evidently different gameplay speed which will cause alot of roubles and lags
also i have noticed that even changing the cam view from normal to wide affects considerably the game speed

i dont know what you guys want from konami...they delivered a brilliant demo(and i mean demo!) so final version can only be better, but if it's like the demo, i'll buy it no doubt.

Love the demo too, love the evolution, and totally agree with the change of “habits” in the way of playing PES (I still play PES 2009), but to me the thing is that Konami takes options, for example: in some 90º turns “lets put an animation to slow down the player and make it more real”. For me feels great as most of the changes (pace, ball physics, etc…).

But if its true that response times as a relation with the quality of players or with situations like player being under pressure I think it’s a bad option the way it is, because it feels like something wrong in some situation, and affects the pace of the game, and that’s the true. To me its not a big deal, but it would be better not to delay the response times on passing for example. The quality of passing should be affected in some situations (it is), not the response time.

But again, not a big deal, easy fix, great demo!

I play the game on 800x600 (4:3) with high settings and V-Sync turned on and it looks beautiful and responses times aren't an issue for me, my problem with the game are the goal keeper bugs and some ugly animation transitions, they ruined the demo for me, this game has so much potential I really hope konami fix these issues because this PES could be the best ever!!!

I think the response issue is being overplayed, its there but its not major IMO.The big issue for me is the keepers are very very poor, even on top player.Dropping simple balls, balls bouncing off them, and missing simple blocks.

Hope thats sorted.

Game speed and response times have nothing to do with resolution. The game will always run at 60 fps at any resolution (assuming you have a good pc). Someone even said that if you lower the resolution in the ps3 and xbox to 480p the response time improves, which makes no sense at all. I played the pc version and the ps3 version and I think the response times are better in the pc version and I played the game at 1920x1200 on high settings, the ps3 version runs at a lower resolution. The game speed is the same.

Seems like it plays better (a bit faster) with normal camera. The response issues are more noticeable with the wide camera.

Is it just me? :?

I can only speak of the PS3 version, as it is the one I have and noticed the amazing changes. This is freaking unbelievable!!!

I have played over 20 games in a row non just tonight, I am in shock of how much a difference it makes!!!!

Long Live The King, PES

Besides me and dwhite, did anyone else notice this thing?

Is there any difference between Xbox360 and PS3 demos? Yesterday I played first Xbox360 with a 28" CRT tv and later PS3 with 46" FULL HD (both 1080p and 720p were used). The difference was quite a massive one, Xbox seemed to play the game like it was fluid like PES6 and PS3 was closer to PES 2009 in rigidness.

Was this just an illusion caused by much lower resolution ? Someone wrote earlier that lower the resolution is, the better and more fluid the game feels because you can't really see all the not-so-great animations and other stuff that make the game feel unresponsive and rigid. I think this is spot on or then there is difference between the versions. The difference just was so massive it was hard to believe I was playing the same game.

At the times of Gamescom, I remember reporters saying that PS3's version was better looking but Xbox360's version was more fluid and more responsive? Could this still be the case, as I have understood the demo code isn't much newer than the Gamescom code was.

been playing the demo for a couple of days now, here is what i noticed

1) switching off 1080i resolution in the ps3 system settings does appear to make the game more responsive and smoother. i'm not sure if this is a real problem or something konami overlooked

2) i'm beginning to understand the concept and the direction the game is heading, which is towards a more realistic pace. however i think the new animations and adjustments to the touches are a bit too drastic and sometimes unnecessary. they could use a little tweaking..the most obvious ones are

- touches: often the players make heavy touches on the ball, even when receiving soft passes. this always interrupts build-up play. i think it has to do with the animation as well, as the players make excessive body movements in order to receive simple passes, which is unnecessary and annoying.

- turning: turns have been tweaked down in 2010, but imho it's a little bit too much. making sharp turns while SLOW dribbling should not require the "skidding" animation. it is very possible to make little sharp turns especially while in a slow paced dribbling.

defending is a bit off too, as the timing between hustling and going in for tackles are disturbed by sometimes unnecessary animations. (although it could be my timing that's off). goal keeper should have faster throwing pace too.

in summary, i think the game should make it so that simple things are simple to pull off, and the complicated things harder to pull off. right now the simple things require too much effort and i think all that's left is balancing them out. all in all, it's a great demo and has plenty of potential. cheers
