Arrested Development

Postby Ocelot » Sun Jul 26, 2009 12:37 am

Anyone watch this?
I started to watch it recently and i love it.
Its mental and wacky but at the same time so witty and smart.
Highly recommended!

(Mods, i dont mind if you just put this in the "TV Discussion" thread, i thought i would create a new topic since i seen all the other shows having there own topic. It doesn't make a difference either way)

Good, good. When i seen the first episode, and the part where Tobias follows the gay's dressed up as pirates onto a boat for a protest, i was in stitches and i knew this was my new show to watch.
So far though, Gob is my favorite character, this scene had me in stitches:

[Gob is being interviewed for an office job]
Interviewer: It was really only your brother we were interested in. I mean, you don't even have any references.
[Gob performs a magic trick involving a small explosion and ending with a dove spontaneously appearing]
Gob: Is that enough of a reference for you?
[the dove lands on interviewer's head]
Interviewer: Even a letter of recommendation? Something like that.

Really good show- got the three series' boxsets. Very witty and well written, probably my favourite show of all time. Gob is the coolest, I really like Will Arnett. David Cross is pretty funny as clueless Tobias. Jeffrey Tambor is brilliant as Gerorge Senior/Oscar, actually the whole cast is flawless- especially Michael Cera.

I agree, the more i watch it, the more i love it. I never expected it to be this good. Gob is definitely my favorite character.

I love the ........previously on arrested development and ......on the next arrested development, and the parts they show are never in the episode. and they way the tie up all the loose ends at the end of the series is absolute genius.
Supposedly, there is a movie in the pipe-line (which ties in nicely to the very last episode), and is going to be directed by (un-credited narrator) Ron Howard.

Yeah, the show is so clever and witty. Its really up there with best comedies, its definitely the wittiest, thats for sure.
As for a movie, im unsure, but then again im still in Series one so i cant really say if its a good idea.

I started watching it yesterday, pretty funny stuff. Good mix of characters and I think the narration works brilliantly with it

Gob makes the show, sure the likes of Tobias and George Michael are good, but Gob is just brilliant, the episode where he whistles while talking was just bloody super

Miss this...

So few really "out-of-the-box" shows around... And when they finally manage to produce a few, cancellation is always looming...

Too many crime/(in)justice/lawyers/forensics/hospitals shows (I like some of them but enough is enough)...

I original thinking dying? Look at all sequels/prequels/remakes... FFS!!!

Peace

Its soul destroying. Some genuinely amazing shows cancelled before their time because viewing figures weren't high enough.

Yes... :(
I still haven't recovered from Firefly.. Probably never will... 14 episodes of the best dialog/lines one could ever find... Perfectly balanced ensemble.. My mouth still waters when I think about it... Such a waste... :(

EDIT: remembered: Cheers had the worst ratings in its first hear (77th in 77!). Then it became a great show in its own time... Given time, quality will prevail... Always...

I was thinking about Firefly as well. So many still lament the passing of that show.
