Look at it this way, when designing and editing the players, kits, attributes, boots, accessories, they've got access to their own proprietary set of tools to create any and everything that they want. Nobody is asking for some sort of LittleBigPlanet level of customization where you can literally create your own objects but simply the ability to mix and match, change the colors of certain things. Saints Row allows for this when creating a character for instance. And if when creating a player they don't have the face creation mechanics down enough then at the very least you should be able to do things like switch shirt sponsors, change kit colors, boot colors, etc., etc. It isn't fundamentally changing the shape of anything. It's simply altering the appearance of assets that are already in the game.

If you can add an Ultimate Team mode and add bandanas, hats and tattoos, you can allow for the changing of colors of things.

I know that this doesn't address what you said about tc811 but your's is also a very valid point and one that certainly points out where PES is ahead of FIFA (granted there aren't too many areas where it is ahead).

People will maybe make the argument that this will promote cheating and glitching to get these teams online but I've played a number of Madden and NBA 2k games online and while you can edit any member of any team to your liking, you CANNOT take them online in ranked matches so this shouldn't be an issue.

But Fifa isn't 100% licensed and authentic. For instance about 7 or 8 of the Serie A teams are unlicensed with fake kits and badges, but there are many other unlicensed teams in the game, such as the Netherlands and other national teams. Therefore an editor would be very useful. PES built up a cult following partly through the ability to edit everything about the teams and players.

I really don't think there is a need for edit mode within FIFA. Admittedly there will always be people who feel the need to tweak the stats but I don't see the point in tinkering with them as the gameplay was designed with those original stats in mind.

There has never been a proper edit mode in FIFA to my knowledge and from what I have seen from the last couple of years with regards to PES the editing isn't what it used to be a few years ago when PES5/6 were the games that everyone was playing/editing

I can't see there being one, as long as I can interchange kits, and see the shorts and socks on selection I'll be happy...

Ok,
Here my reasons.
We are all the time asking EA to do this or to add this other stuff to the game. That means that EA wants and need us to improve their product, so we can say we are, in a litlle way, editing the game.

I ask for a good edition mode, because I want to play with whatever team I want to create, with the players I woul like to create. For instance, I caanot play the Confederations Cup, as Irak and Ejypt are not in the game. I would love to create the argentinean league, and why not to create the second division, and why not to create a good Libertadores cup.

I am not asking them to have all the licenses in the world, I am just asking to have the freedom to create my own game, if I wish, I pay, I choose. That is all.

Just, in case any of you have ever edit a game, it is as fun, or even more as play it.

Greeting to all.

Id like the ability to put myself in the game (a la Tiger Woods) and tweak the appearances/stats of other players. That would be adequate enough for me. For obvious reasons it doesnt need an in-depth editor unlike PES (due to licensing)
I promise I wont be condescending in my posts.... I mean well guys :) Roll on PES 2011 and FIFA 11 :)
PES 2010 is my game of choice at the moment. FIFA 10 has been traded in and WC 2010 the AI simply isnt good enough.

I remeber when i went to edit the Dutch squad it was very drawn out because after editing 1 player the menus took u all the way back to the team select screen. I know by changing your default club to the one you are editing can help with this but if this all could be simplified it would make life a lot easier.

In fact i wish all the menus could be simplified. I once was lost in a menu for 2 days and had to drop bread crumbs just so i could find my way back out again.

I've been reading FSB and WENB for a long time and never bothered to get involved but thought i'd add my two cents on this point. When i use to get PES the first thing i did was play one match then get straight onto the editor to sort out the stats and kits. With Fifa 09 i really miss the editing ability. Surely it would be easy for EA to add that into Fifa10 to let you edit the players stats at least so you can have the players how you believe they should be. There aren't massive things wrong with the majority of players on the game but when you have had the ability to edit the shooting stats before its frustrating that the only way to give players any boost is to remove all the GK points they have and add those onto areas where they should be better.

Just a quick example, playing as Arsenal i've added Thomas Vermaelen to the squad but his overall is off the top of my head 71 which is worse than Johan Djourou, likewise Alex Song who staked his place ahead of Denilson towards the end of the season has a worse overall than Aaron Ramsey.

The ALS addition was great idea in theory but i dont think it truely reflected performances, it would be much better to allow complete manipulation of stats like in PES for users to decide how they want players to perform rather than limit the movement of stats.

Players change during the season and if they intend to make the game as realistic as possibly EA should make it possibly to add and remove points. I hope the edit mode of Fifa10 allows this at least.

Would love to be able to edit my kit in MM. Just that would be a start, and maybe be able to edit players, though we can already do that to some extent, so why not open that out a bit more.

Not going to be too critical as EA are doing a fair bit of what we've wanted and maybe it's a tad unfair to expect them to have everything. But i think wes hould keep this discussion going because it's definitely something that should be in, if not for '10 then hopefully '11.

i know this isn't a big deal but i think the sock tape that cristiano ronaldo and fernando torres has should be on fifa 10 because alot of players these days have it and it would be a nice touch to the editing mode (that sock tape was on the trailer for fifa 07 on eto'o) i also like the idea of changing the socks and shorts, you should also have the option to have gloves with short sleeves and also have the option to have their sleeves change depending on the weather that would be another good touch on fifa 10!! :D

Player ratings as sometimes EA doesn't rate players correctly. Maybe you wanna create a legend or just any player and actually make him relatively good before taking him into a MM or BAP: Seasons. This shouldn't be restricted to just attributes either. Boots, sock length, ankle tape. They could allow us to use a color palette of sorts to change the colors of the Vapors for example since they change the colors all the time. Change the swoosh and the boot itself just to add a little bit of customization to the game.

yeah i like the idea of that! would be a good addition to this years version :)

I Am A 12 Year Old And I Really Like The Fifa Games And There Probably Been The Best Game Ive Ever Played And Always Will Be But I Hope That They Can Put An Edit Stadium In There Because I like Doing Manager Mode With League 2 Teams So you Can Get Promoted And Earn Things.

So If You Could Have Satdium Edit, With The Money You Earn You Can Put More Stands In To Make Your Stadium Bigger As You Pass Through The Leagues So Your Not Playing In The Premier With A Small Stadium So You Could Fill In Gaps And Put More Seats And Shelters Around Your Stadium So You Can Make One Acrington And Get A Bigger Stadium With The Money You Earn

I Think That Would Be A Great Edit For Fifa 10 So I Hope They Can Add It :( :? :!: :!: :!:

I Also Think They Should Have All The Leagues Like The Russian And The Other Missing Leagues So You Will Have A Bigger Range Of Players To Buy In The Transfer Window!

The Transfer Window Should Also Be Longer :D

The edit mode on FIFA is rubbish. The thing that wound me up more than anything was the fact that to edit stats I needed some kind of playing points(what's that all about). Also as much as I enjoyed FIFA 09 when I first got it some of the player appearances were aweful the one that stuck in my mind last year was Nasri it was aweful.
BUT

I can see where EA are coming from if they have the licences.

I wouldn't mind there not being a very good edit mode in Fifa if they made the best of their liscences which as others have mentioned they haven't. What frustrates me most is not even bothering with most teams goalkeeping kits

Also it frustrates me that half the kits don't look right. I can't help feeling that if pes had the liscense they would make better use of it :(

Lets be honest though if it's ever happens it's not going to be soon :(

After seeing that game face with Samuel L. I want that edit mode even more now. We should get a campaign going for it.

Don't really agree at all. Edit mode for a lot of people is more than just having the right kits, the editing in itself is the real fun.
