I've had my (virtual) ear chewed off by a few PMs etc. and it's practically ready to go so I'll release it an hour ahead of schedule. So that's 15 minutes from now. :)

It's up! FSB EXCLUSIVE: INTERVIEW WITH DAVID RUTTER

I'll be really interested now to see the reaction to the first answer, I think David may be as well... Or perhaps I'm way off the mark and people will see nothing wrong with it!

Just listened to it Chris. Good stuff. I can imagine that first answer that Rutter gave to be very controversial with alot of the fans of the Fifa series. Im not sure what to make of it to be honest as i know what David is saying but at the same time, it needs to be improved even more in my opinion. We shall see.......

Cheers for puttin the interview up early though mate. Great stuff.

Is it me or would David Rutter make a good politician. Did he actually answer the question? Not really, A yes or No would have been good. I understand what he is saying though. It would look weird if say a player kicked a ball instantly despite his body shape being all wrong. There needs to be a fine balance thiugh so the game doesnt have that sluggish feel of previous games. It needs to feel better than 09 did.

Also what was with that "update" bit at the end when being asked about saving replays? He said that an update would be released after release if needed. Was he talking about in general or the saved replays? Coz he then half promised it for Fifa11.

Also i would have asked him if more goals were possible from long range?

The list was 10-20 questions long but unfortunately there was a queue of people who wanted to get hold of David. ;)

He already answered this question in another interview I saw. He said shots are a lot more driven (and the floating should be out). As an example, he mentioned Frank Lampard, "that he could, if given enough space, shoot low, hard balls in from outside the box". This concerns me though. The fact that he mentioned superstar at long range shooting Lampard could mean other (less talented) players can't pull off those shots. Which they absolutely can. Maybe not as often (and good) as Lampard, but they can (with some luck sometimes, agreed). Wait and see I guess.

So glad they have sorted out the super human speed of strikers. Hopefully this will reduce the number of 1 on 1's that are scored in a game. Far too much in 09 in comparison to reality where 1 on 1's are rarely scored.

Great poadcast, although adam was so trying to be so sly critical. Thankfully his unintentional pro fanboyism was so blatant that most will neglect his slighly biased opinion and not let it effect thier pre release thoughts of the game!

I agree with Adam that players like messi, ronaldo and kaka should represent the real players more, however not by simply bumping up thier pace like in 09. I felt that the best players in the game were simply distinguished by giving them more pace. The lower the league you played the slower the player, which is ridiculous. Any word of this being changed? players ability should be based on far mroe than pace, but sadly it seems as though pace has a large bearing on how good a player is on fifa!

Hopefully Pro will pull itself out from the garbage and we will have 2 fantastic games come October!

I know what you mean but i read somewhere that there is now more emphasis on dribbling rather than pace, Messi cannot be nudged off the ball as easy because even if you out-muscle him he will keep control of the ball, that with the foot-switching being mastered should make for more depth in player ability, speed has also been tweaked i think so people arent superhuman!

A few things I want to know.

1. Is it possible to beat players without using the skills?

2. Can slow technical players be effective in this game?

3. Can you do low driven shots from outside the box?

4. Has the crowd atmosphere been improved at all? (Regionalized, and reacting more to the play)

These things are all important imo

Sorry for the double post, can't edit the previous one anymore.

Of course there are whole host of concerns that I have about FIFA 10 but from that interview, the second question regarding fatigue was a little worrying. They haven't "overhauled" it, which was REALLY what needed to happen since there is no fatigue at all in FIFA 09. If, as a someone who'd been to the community day earlier and played the said, there is still "homing" in the game and fatigue still doesn't seem to have seem a major overhaul (i.e., actually been put in the game) then we're gonna have some issues.

But did Rutter really say that he didn't think the 100 aggression and pressure weren't as much of an exploit as chip assisted throughballs to Ronaldo/Torres? I rarely get beat by the latter and the former is the NUMBER ONE reason why it's impossible to play anything even remotely resembling build up play online. It RUINS the game. And apparently it's not as big a problem as the assisted chip throughball.

I'll answer, but I know how my views get taken out of context as I'm a PES fanboy ;)

1) Felt very similar to FIFA 09 regarding dribbling. I played FIFA 09 enough to be able to beat a man now and again depending on my pace going forward without using the trick stick, and I expect you'll be able to do the same in the same degree. The only time anyone got past me (or I got past Suff) was using a strong quick player with a burst of pace i.e. Eto'o

2) Not from what I found.

3) Along the floor? Nope, although I'm sure you can as David Rutter has spoken about this.

4) Incredible, really vibrant and full of motions.

Felt similar, but me and Suff were happy with FIFA 09 nets.

So then do you actually need to use your midfield this time around?
