I've said a fair amount in the other thread, but the basis of my feedback with direct regards to the press release would be: Promising but need proof.
The release says pretty much everything we have been wanting to hear.
Increasing the staff and creating dedicated teams for certain aspects of the game is a big step forward, as Seabass has previously commented that the nextgen development for them is/was difficult as the team structure and development process did not fit the needs of next gen development.
The comment regarding a focus on Simulation is also well received by me, but as commented in the other thread, I think they need to make sure they keep the 'fun' aspect of the game too - it should not become impossible to dribble past people without doing some mad trick.
Improvement in the keepers and the refs are also badly needed and hopefully they stick to their promise on this (and give the keepers goal keeper gloves as opposed to gardening gloves...must have been the reason for poor handling in previous versions!
I could go on, but everything we wanted to hear is there - improved AI and game play, dedicated team for online etc - it is a very promising press release.
However, after the promises made previously (09 was a major graphical overhaul after all....) people are going to be very skeptical as to whether Konami will actually deliver on the promises they have made this time round either. With the game 7 months away, I obviously do not expect gameplay videos, but for Konami to get the fans back onside, they need to give us more information at short intervals. I think they really need to release a proper screen shot, a shot that truly represents what the players will look like during matches as we play - so no touched up 'target renders' like Adrianho and Terry. Maybe some animation tech videos too, to show us how the players will look moving - if they have the game engine done enough to be saying how great it is, they should be able to provide some proof without having to give us a full match trailer.
With so much staff in play now too - I think Konami should look to blogging the development process, or twitter it maybe - some platform for the dev's of the game to interact with the fanbase and provide little snipits of info as they can.
Another issue would be to get the community more involved - they should be looking to sites like PESfan and WENB, regularly inviting them to look at the dev process and the how the game is coming along, but not make them sign NDA's, or at least less restrictive NDA's; if there is something they legally can't comment on (such as the CL last time round) then fine, NDA it, but allow the community representatives to see the game and the development, and allow them to comment on it as soon as they want to.
In conclusion. the release is promising, as promising as we could have hoped for - but it is a Press Release, it is the goal of a press release to make the product seem great, we need more tangible proof to really start to get behind Konami again.
