Manual shooting going down a storm. Seen some beautifully-placed 25-yarders and so much more variety.

Wonderful news, Steve. Let's hope they don't butcher it after receiving demo feedback, i.e. "shooting is TOO manual - get rid of it!!!"

:) Yup I'm that cynical this year.

Y'know Shady, i am right with you on this one. Remember how lovely ( for the most part anyhoo ) those early 2012 demos were and how it all went wrong with the release version ? I wonder how much of those changes were due to fan feedback pulling the team from pillar to post ? I wonder if, in trying to please everyone, they went and scuppered themselves in the process !?

Fan feedback is ultra important, but more so is the original vision of the team i think. I hope a whole tonne of fans don't hate the new controls, purely because they can't be bothered to learn new things this year :? If PES gets hard until you put the effort in, then i am all for it :D Screw the "casuals" - please stick with what works best, even if it takes some effort on the player's part :)

8-)

Exactly what I want to hear.

I don't think it could ever be 'too manual'
It's something you have to learn, perfect - i'm willing to put my fair share of wild shots in before I reap the rewards.

That's why there's no point in getting excited about the game in its current form because there's not a chance in hell we'll play it how it is now by the time we get our hands on it.

People need to chill the 'eff' out when the demo hits this year and give the game time. No more knee-jerk reactions and asking for improvements that could throw the rest of the game off-kilter. I know it'll never happen but there you go. :)

It's that time of the year again :D You just know the press will be posting some pics with the game in the background, barely visible but we'll still be creaming ourselves

Wasn't there a manual modifier present in last year's PES? Am I missing something? :? Forgive me for my denseness.

That's the one. :D

I was hoping shooting (and passing) wouldn't require a modifier but it's better than nothing I suppose.

Really think they should consider adding it as an option in the menus, especially if the default option isn't MUCH MUCH more free'er.

I was hoping for an in-game option as well. It would be a lot more intuitive.

Think there's still time for that to happen. This needs clarification though, fully manual shooting is a complicated thing, if at least the default shooting has lots of freedom already. I'm not against a default setting that is "semi", like for passing in PES 2011.

Manual shooting is sounding promising but I really do hope that it can be used without holding L2 because I fear that it would be impractical. Example. If I wanted to do a manually placed chip whilst running I'd have to hold R1, L1 & L2 simultaneously.

I hope they don't go over the top with the modifiers like the pass support in PES 2012 - There was 0 to 4 bars passing assistance which was confusing and should have kept it simple like 'Assisted, Semi-Assisted, Manual' with the semi-assisted relying on player individuality and your aim. Hopefully they'll do that with the shooting.

I hate the word assisted and hate seeing assisted in a football game ....why because I worry that the game online will resemble ping-pong passing fest, thank god we won't be seeing full blown assisted crap for PES2013.

players need to take time out and learn/practice to master the art of passing and shooting PES style - that's one of my main hopes for #PES2013/

Exactly, player individualty should still be essential, would hate if it became like FIFA. But I have full confidence in KONAMI when it comes to individuality even if it has been lacking a bit in recent years.

If they don´t nail individuality and go over the top with the manual thing, i´m afraid it will be a a speed fest all over the place, just running and shooting always to the right place once you nail the manual thing.

I have fait in Konami to get a well balanced game this year though
