an external hard disk. The great thing is I ordered it yesterday morning online. When I checked the price (after my order had been accepted) it had risen an extra ten quid! I love it when that happens.

:D

500Gb, mate. The thing is I have this strange rule when it comes to external hard disks. The larger capacity it is, the more stuff I'll lose when it inevitably stops working one day in the future. Hard disk platters and all that. :D

I have another 500Gb external hard disk and that's working fine but that's a few years old and it has it's own power pack. This new one runs straight off from the USB. I guess I'll use the new one for my laptop backup and the old one I'll bung next to the PS3 and copy all my DVDs over to it.

It's this one if you're interested: Toshiba PX1626E-1HE0 500GB StorE Alu2 USB 2.0 2.5 Inch External Hard Drive Silver. I got mine from Amazon.

Toshiba are meant to be notoriously brilliant when it comes to durability and reliability of their external hard disks. The one I already have is also Toshiba. Hope I've not jinxed it now. :)
