F1 2012

Postby danny275 » Mon Mar 12, 2012 7:45 pm

So, there's going to be news tomorrow, eh?

Can't see myself getting this, unless it's absolutely perfect, in terms of major, gamebreaking bugs. Lets face it there were enough of them in 2011. They must have a quota...

Anyway, I await the news with indifference

Didnt get the last one due to the miriad of bugs in the first one.

Cant see this being any different, codemasters arent known for listening/caring what the punters think.

Feel the same really. Funny how Codemasters never demo their games. Got my eye on rfactor 2 and Project Cars anyway.

They've extended their licensing agreement.

Whoopdy-fucking-doo :|
I expect the graphics to be the same or worse than last years which, graphically, was worse than 2010. Handling to be better and penalties to be just as harsh on the player as ever...

But most of all I expect bugs

Time to get a betting pool going:
How many game-breaking bugs will this years edition have?

A lot of fluff and nothing new, but here's the first F1 2012 trailer/video thingy... game's coming out just in time for the end of the season, again

Still dont understand how the game comes out just before the end of the season. Im guessing the reason behind that is because they want to know the final calendar and the tracks that the racing will take part in. :?:

Yea, I imagine. You'd think they'd creep it forward gradually though, a couple of months each year, like EA did with Tiger woods from September to March...

As far as I know, it's to do with the car performance. I could be wrong though

Nothing has come close to matching Crammond's GP4 or GTR/GTR2. They are still played by thousands upon thousands.

I'm not impressed either by SimBin's efforts with GTR3 in that to all intent's and purposes they will not be recreating one of the recent FIA GT seasons as they did with GTR/GTR2.

These long licensing deals can promote apathy on the part of the developer as opposed to raising the bar.

Im a little disappointed with the lack of licenced real world racers.

Theres obviously this F1 title, which I wont judge, but the last ones left a little to be desired.

Theres the WRC games which are solid but nothing amazing. Theres the SBK games which are the same (made by the same people) and the MotoGP games are poor.

Wheres an officially licenced GT game? World Touring Cars? Aussie V8s? There are loads of championships out there with loyal followings, yet hardly any games to cater for them.

Agreed. GP4 had the perfect cockpit view too. Something the developers still can't get right these days even with all the modern tech.

The only thing that even remotely interests me in codemasters' game is the career mode

I think the cars look good but the track and surrounding environment look poor.

As I said on PESFan upon seeing the video, it's becoming more and more likely that I'll wait on pCARS

It's just so cartoony.

Cartoony is right. Was hoping for a graphics update, amongst other things...

So true.

After playing pCARS with my new PC, i realize how outdated this game looks. You cant even compare the Forza or GT5 to this. And these 2 franchise got hundreds more cars and many different tracks with so much better details. pCARS on the other hand is Alpha Built and it looks a hell lot better. Than you have rFactor 2 in Beta build that is looking very, very promising as well.

Funny how small companies are able to create such great racing games (pCars and rFactor), while Codemaster, known for their racing genre of past years, has gone downhill. :(

By the way, Formula A in pCARS is sooooooo freakin awesome! I need to get myself a wheel.

Im with you on this one I need a wheel for pCARS and my other racing sims. F1 2012 to me the graphics now look too colourful and cartoony. Plus if they dont address the annoying bugs from 2011 I wont be buying this.
