I can't imagine "linked" feints/tricks being requested. I'm sure tricks on the right analog stick have been requested by millions but Konami just cocked up the whole implementation.

Probably about as much as the of the ball control that nobody asked for.

Well but the off the ball control, even if it wasn't requested, kinda makes sense. I remember very early on in the series moaning about the fact I couldn't put the ball where I wanted it in goalkicks and freekicks.

Yea, that's sensible but I was actually referring to controlling another player (whatever that was called) with the right stick, which I think is over-complicating things and is never going to be very popular.

Why not use the right stick for tactics or something instead of link feinds

Oh right. But still, specially in a game that feels so restricted like PES 2012, that system can be useful. I don't use it much, mainly because I forget it's there, but imo it's not a bad addition, and doesn't have the same implications linked feints have.

Yea, it's not pointless like link feints. To be honest I would like to see a few step-overs moved back to the shoulder buttons and a simple first-touch system (not tricks) applied to the right stick. I do like the first touch system in FIFA and I think it would be a nice addition to PES if implemented well.

Actually, some players will do step overs if you release all buttons and press R2 (leaving it pressed). Agree, would love to see that first touch system in PES. One of the things I love the most in FIFA.

Would love a decent PES game to play at the end of this year. Miss PES so much. Its still been 5 years since it was enjoyable to play in my opinion.

Sadly i would no longer consider myself a fully fledged PES fan. Ive rarely looked at these forums in recent times. In years gone by I would have been constantly looking for new info and participating in discussion and debate.

If PES hasnt dramatically upped its game this year, I can safely say I will not be buying it. Sad times.

DId we get better stepovers ? The stepovers that are in 2012 are horrible, you cant really do anything before the animations is over. You know, stepover and then burst into a diagonal direction

We need better trick respond time and just use right stick for tricks. Bring back R2 step overs, the current system is just too slow.

Another issue I feel should improve is the probability of 2nd player pressure (square) getting the ball or making constructive tackle or pressure. Now they are useless as they lock into some gay animation and the opponent can just drag back and get away which is ridiculous... Even using 2 player to sandwich the opponent doesn't get the ball. In demo one it works fine but demo 2 onwards the attacking side is overpowering especially good body balance and speed players

Huh? i love 2012 step overs. Nice and responsive and you don't have to go diagonal. You can keep running straight, cancel out of them, shoot, pass, or stop. What more can you add?

@greyfoxmgs there's no way R2 stepovers were more responsive and they're restricted. Firstly, you always had to slow down for them to start quickly which is ridiculous for players like ronaldo and secondly, because its restricted to 1 button, you can't choose which foot to do the step over with. It will always start with their weaker foot.

Also makes multiple stepovers clunky as it takes ages to re-register the input.

Have to disagree with your statement on step overs, since link feints we're introduced (why oh why konami) practically any player can perform a hard trick on the pitch (indviduality anyone?) It is so inane and un-resposnsive. In my humble opinion you can't beat the old system it was so responsive & intuitive and took a while to master with the right analogue stick tricks, I never had any problem with correct foot in pes of old all this rubbish is leink feints is fluff for the FIFA boys.

Now we have some automated bull shit system meaning anyone can perform a trick without the need of practice in training mode, for me that is one of the detah knolls for PES's hardcore fans and another reason many seasoned PES players are sick to death at what a automarted mess the series has become.

What angers me is that they even incorporated the best penalty kick system on any footie game ever in 2011, but nooooooooooo beacuse the usual cry babies could not take 30 minutes out of their day to learn and master a fully manual PK system it was scrapped, and for what another load of noob friendly auto PK rubbish. Konami need to have a vision for the hardcore and stick to it, why create a exteremely rewarding and fully manual PK system and then scrap it 'cos people find it hard.

Totally agree about PK system...the only thing they did wrong was to not explain it...a training mode, or even a demonstration when it first happens in game would have done wonders

Thought that system was awful myself. I use to dread getting penalties. Taking a penalty with the camera behind the player is the only way to go really. FIFA does it pretty well.

Awful is the wrong word to use , this reaction is why konami chop and change so much as they pander to public doom and gloom merchants, seriously if you took time out to master the PK's it was beautiful, a work of art. I waited pretty much 23 / 24 years for a footie title to nail PK's in that fashion, just took a while to get used too. This attitude to train and master is what makes PES and unites the hardcore, be it manual stepovers, right stick manual tricks, free kicks, penalties etc.. now it seems they have taken away my hardcore mountain bike to be replaced by a kids bike with stabilisers?

I disagree on the FIFA statement, I play FIFA now and then with my cousins and the PK's feel so automated just like PES now. Yes granted the PK's we're hard in pes2011, but when you mastered them they we're truly free (ala free kicks pre 2012) and manual, even my squirts of cousins who at first cussed the PK's, when they got used to it said it was miles better than anything else as it was free and was down to practice and skill, only to be changed again by konami to suit the crying masses.

PES needs to keep a vision and keep to it, believe in the product and thier own vision and not pander to the masses.

I didnt mean you only could do a stepover and then diagonal. I mean you cant even do that cause its so slow.

You do the stepover and then you get tackled, can someone show me a vid of a great stepover with a change of direction afterwards that leads to getting past the defender.

I just think konami should mimic fifas controls for feints but not the system. Just the control scheme

I took the time out, thank-you ;) and it never felt good, cathartic, thrilling, addictive, enjoyable... to me at all. Even though these days I can't find the enthusiasm to play PES 2012 long enough to get a penalty, I'm happy Konami have gone back to the behind the player view, although the camera still switches to the wide-cam view too quickly and takes me out of the penalty shoot-out action. FIFA's system isn't perfect but I enjoy it more. Horses for courses.
