Ive got a full wheel and seat setup, thinking its going to waste without this game.

However this was a very boring F1 season in RL.

I'm not sure if the console version has been patched but the PC version certainly received an update at some point last week, I was prompted to download and install when I signed in on Saturday night.

It seems like the physics have been altered, cars no longer turn in as much as they used too and turning whilst breaking is a no no now when it was previously a must use tactic to get the best times.

The update has added some realism and will be tough to get used to.

Oh ya i gave it a go a few days back and ur right. The car is harder to turn and it will get some used to again. The car feels that it has more weight to it. It still feels fast, but the it has a slight learning curve once more. I play on PS3 and the patch came out a week or two ago if im not mistaken.

I really cannot stand playing this game online. Too many people treat it as destruction derby and just take you out at every opportunity..... or people who dont know how to overtake properley...

Like for example I take my line for the corner and DONT weave about, I turn in and next thing I know THUMP! im then facing the other direction and the idiot who hit me has driven off down the road...... next thing I see is "PENALTY! Caused Collision!!" WTF?

Yep, online is a horrible experience. To be honest, I don't think any Formula 1 game will ever be an enjoyable experience online for people that know and love Formula 1. Formula 1 is a about precision, patience, consistency and controlled aggression. Seems like every online race has at least one player who wants to play the game like Motorstorm.

This game is an absolute shambles. It's now gotten to the point where I won't be buying 2012 unless it's absolutely perfect, which based on Codemaster's attempts so far, won't be even remotely close.

It takes a lot for me to get this frustrated with a game but there's so much fundamentally wrong with this game that it's hard not to feel angered at paying some €40 for it.

Lets start at the beginning, shall we? The first problem, which now seems to have been fixed (although it might not have) is the fact that on the PC version, the game would crash on loadup requiring you to delete your settings for it to work again. Not exactly something that's easy to miss with any sort of testing, is it? Bloody happened to me within the first week and happened several times after

Now there's the situation of the game NEVER remembering what config you use to drive. Bloody infuriating

There's also the initial framerate problems, the damage (or lack thereof) and the fact that in fixing a multitude of bugs (a lot of which should have been caught pre-release) Codemasters managed to create a new bug. Bravo. I am in awe of their ineptitude.

One other thing that really pisses me off is the backmarkers. Never has there been a game with AI this stupid. I've just been doing Qualifying in Hungary. Unrelated but I had already qualified 7th last night only to load up and the game hadn't actually saved despite saying "Autosaving" in the top corner. But anyway, driving behind Vettel through the first sector, I'm keeping up with him and literally as the 1st sector ends he slams on the brakes mid corner which causes me to hit him and ruins my lap. Why? Because he was "kindly" letting me by. MID FUCKING CORNER AND ON THE POXY RACING LINE. Excellent work...

But all of this is nothing compared to the complete BALLS they've made of the lap timing. Specifically, the AI's lap times. As I said above I was only keeping up with Vettel but in actual fact, I should have been destroying Vettel. The closest anyone was to me through the 1st sector was 0.5 seconds away and yet, I wasn't gaining on him (until he slammed on the brakes, of course)

Then you've got another instance, Heidfeld was driving behind me through the first sector. I did a 28.4, his best was a measly 29.2 and he actually closed in by quite a large amount through the sector.

So, basically what I'm saying is, they've manufactured the times. They did it in 2010 and I thought it was fixed for this year but it hasn't. As far as I'm concerned, if your AI isn't good enough to actually set a lap time, don't release the game. I can forgive bugs but Codemasters seem to just pile them into every F1 game they can. It's beyond ridiculous.

Not only will I be extremely hesitant to buy 2012, I'm actually starting to hope they lose the license and it goes to someone with a little knowledge of what F1 fans want from games of their sport.

I've read a lot of similar complaints to yours on the interweb. I've also experienced a fair share of my own on the PS3 version, not to mention how poor the game looks. One example that pisses me off is everytime I race at Silverstone, for some reason, I have to do the last 5 laps twice :? I thought I was going nuts when it first happened. I used to be a fan of the Operation Flashpoint games but Codemasters absolutely trashed that excellent IP with buggy gameplay too. Like you, if they don't pull their finger out I won't be buying 2012. It's a shame because I actually really like the driving.

It's always Danny. He has posted loads of these kind of complaints on Kitanamedia alone. Not to mention what he spread on the interwebs. :lol:

Australian Grand Prix next week :D

Would really like to see Codemasters release the game sometime in late March to coincide with the start of the F1 season, rather than towards the end of it.
