Need some advice on what to start watching TV series wise after Prison Break has now finished. Ive heard The Wire is fantastic so im going to look into buying that on DVD for sure. Lost and Fringe just dont do it for me im afraid so ill give them a miss.

Also does anyone know of any up and coming series that look great that are not released yet? the next big thing from the u.s for example?

Cheers.

Hi Gari14, to answer your question The Wire is probably the most underatted show ever written. It's the most intelligent show ever! You should all actaully give it a go and you guys won't be disapointed.

Another fantastic show is Battlestar Galactica, although it's Sci-fi it really is another smart show and if you get a chance to watch the 3 hour pilot i would bet you won't be disapointed either.

Another couple of shows you should check out are

Breaking Bad,
Lie to me (as someone else pointed out.)
True Blood
Burn Notice

Anything really from showtime or HBO, a good example is to check out the FX channel on sky!

Hey elmickio, thanks for your input mate.

Yeah im going to buy Season 1 of The Wire very soon as ive had plenty of people that have told me that its fantastic and i should get it, so thats that sorted. I look forward to watching it.

Ill be honest, ive not really heard to the shows that you listed above but thats normally a good thing as they are not hyped up to the max. Ill defo check them out and see what they are about.

Thanks for that mate.

My friend is always telling me to watch the Wire and after looking up some reviews it has some great reviews, i have been meaning to get it for a while.
I remember watching the first episode of Battletstar and i didnt know what was going on so i just gave up on it and it is only recently that i realized that there is a huge pilot you have to watch before it. So i will give that a go myself.

Entourage reminds me of an FHM commerical.

I watched this real funny sitcom recently called Eastbound and Down. only has 6 episodes.

Also in the process of watching a spectualr show called "intreatment" with Ireland's own Gabe Byrne. He plays a thearpist/shrink and it's basically situated in his office.

Looks like my cup of tea, kinda similar to Battlestar Gallactica.

Still, i have some great "sci-fi" shows to look forward to this season, Fringe, Heroes.

The original used to scare the beeejesus out of me when I was a kid.

I think they are going for the same effect as BSG talking of BSG have you watched Caprica pilot yet?

I havent actually watched any BSG yet, i have it all on my PC and everything, its just my friend never stops talking about it with me, so i nearly know everything about it before i even watched it yet. still, it looks good and i will start watching it soon, its just im stuck in other TV Series, like In Treatment, Arrested Dev and even the old X-Files, love them.

Hung, True Blood, Nurse Jackie, Modern Family are all new shows that I would recommend. Regarding The Wire, it is one of the greatest shows ever IMO - for once the hype is justified.

I think Hung might be one of the strangest set ups for a TV show, none the less it was quite enjoyable.

Also Curb your enthusiam is back on our screens. Maybe the funniset sitcom ever made, be warned it's not everyones cup of tea!
