Sooooo? Have you read it yet? What do you think?

Thank god we are able to turn these stupid newly implemented aids off. Would have ruined it for me to play with highlighted objects and that enemy tracker.

If we can turn off any aids aimed at new players or kids, then thats perfect. I fully understand the desire for the manufacturers to appeal to a wider audience, but when I read that I did fear that it would alienate Hitman from his fans.

Hope Jesper Kyd is back for the score. You can't have a Hitman game without Jesper Kyd!

It doesn't sound like it will be completely the hitman of old, which is a tiny tad worrying to be honest. I just hope they know what the series made so popular. And with only the very first level of Absolution shown to the press there's hope the following levels will be getting closer to what we call Hitman. For the record i wasn't a fan of the first level of Blood Money either. And i do hope that the newly dark setting will not be the setting for every level in Absolution. I want variety for each level like in Blood Money and i want some sun flooded levels too. I really really hope they don't **** this up. I understand that they want to reach a bigger audience with making it more 'main stream/easier' but to be honest i don't care, let the kiddies play call of duty or whatever. I want the Hitman of old with updated visuals a new levels, that's all.

Yup - sounds a bit like Splinter Cell Conviction which is worrying (in terms of simple one button kills). Not because SCC is a bad game (it isn't) but because Hitman games have their own style which shouldn't be abandoned IMO.

Found this. Hitman E3 trailer.
Doesn't really tells us much, i just hope that's not the way we storm through the levels - killing everybody.

What I love best about the Hitman games is the variety, and the choice. If you want to kill everyone in the level, you can. If you want to sneak in, kill only the target, and leave, without anyone even knowing you were there, you can.
As long as they keep that, and a bit of variety in levels and locations, im happy.

Going by the above trailer, its good we get to see 47 displaying his hand-to-hand combat skills. If thats as far as the game deviates from classic Hitman gameplay, I won't be too concerned.

But no melee rampages or shoot-em-ups.

Exactly this. As long as that's the case i'm happy too.
Oh and i hope they keep the newspaper thing in also. And the weapon upgrades.

Someone in Hitman forum translated the most important info:

First of all, the casual mode. It's called "Instinct" and can be turned off on higher difficulties.
Advantages the "Instinct" mode will bring:
- X-Ray vision
- Orange glow highlights position and routes of nearby NPC's
- Highlights usable objects, special actions
- Enhances certain abilities (for example makes it harder for enemies to see through disguises)
- (the german authors speculating) maybe bullettime during shootouts
Using Instinct costs energy that can be replenished by performing "Hitman" actions like stealth killing foes.

Details on game mechanics:
- 47 is more agile and easier to control, for example he can grab on ledges and balance around edges
- Cover system integrated, human shields
- Hiding in dark corners
- Still possible to kill target only, optimally by accident
- Film-noir flair
- Dynamic music
- Using the environmental objects to dispatch enemies; examples: strangulation with electrical cords, the good old chandelier, a Bong (!)
- Glacier-2 engine again using a crowd system with dozens, if not hundreds of people on screen
- Detailed graphics, fantastic lighting, fluid indoor/outdoor transitions

Then they describe a mission and possible ways to solve it. They note that it felt old-school but rather linear, this might be because it was the presentation level. (I guess its the tutorial level, like the funfair in Hitman 4)
The Situation:
Agent 47 is an unarmed fugitive, chased by the police. He takes refuge in an abandoned library that is soon surrounded and stormed by armed forces.
Now they list three possible ways of solving the mission:

A) 47 takes the cable of a desk lamp and chokes one of the officers to death. He takes his gun, sneaks up to another officer and takes him as human shield. He then proceeds to the roof emergency exit. As soon as the armed forces open fire, 47 takes cover behind book shelves. After eliminating everyone from behind the cover, the escape route has been cleared.

B ) 47 takes the cable of a desk lamp and chokes one of the officers to death. He takes his clothing and carefully gets past the armed forces through the emergency exit on the roof.

C) 47 sneaks past the guards using all kinds of environmental cover and climbing around. He then manipulates a fuse box, disabling the electricity. In the dark he manages to sneak out over the roof undetected.

Those three possibilities culminate in a Helicopter chase sequence that is described as follows:
A linear roof chase sequence, the helicopter opens fire on 47.
They mention that such linear sequences "quicken the pace" from time to time, I don't know what to make of that.
- 47 then takes cover in an apartment building and uses his disguising skills to get to the finish.

That's made my day that has. Although the hail of bullet-fire isn't something I've seen in a Hitman game.

In fairness, it happens when you're not very stealthy

Used to love "Basement Killing" for those kind of frolics
