IO Interactive have let 30 of their staff go, presumably because they were fucking stupid enough to make 2 bloody K&L's which didn't sell

So now an unnamed game they were working on has been canned as a result...

No doubt its Hitman. Bloody fantastic

No worries man.
I don't know where i read it, but a guy who's involved said it's not Hitman which is cancelled. He said it was some project they were working with Microsoft on.

Sorry for the lack of source.

I'll say it again - having made 2 crap K&L games can't have been positive for the IO development team. I hope Hitman5 isn't adversely effected in any way.

I don't doubt there ability to make games. They made a ridiculous choice in making another K&L which was stupid beyond all comprehension. The first one sold crap, no idea why they thought the second one would do any better :?

IO Interactive working on an 'unannounced AAA action title'
Could this be Hitman 5? IO Interactive working on "one of the most exciting projects" in its history.

Job listings for IO Interactive have revealed that the developer is working on an 'unannounced AAA action title', which the studio describes as "one of the most exciting projects in IO Interactive's 10 year history".
The listings, which were spotted on IO Interactive's website this morning, revealed that the studio currently has "several projects in different stages" each with "a number of ambitious, tech driven features."
"We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our team as Lead Character Artist to complete one of the most exciting projects in IO Interactive's more than 10 year history in videogames," read one of them, "and play a major part in the games we have in the future pipeline. "We are prepared only to accept applications from the very best talent from around the world."

Rumours of a new Hitman game have been circling around the web for the last couple of years, with the latest evidence coming from two former IO programmers in November. Both claimed to have been working on Hitman 5. Besides Hitman, IO Interactive has previously developed the hit third-person PC title Freedom Fighters, Mini Ninjas and both Kane & Lynch games.

God, let it be Hitman 5.

Just read the last line there...skipped it initially. Wouldn't mind a sequel to Freedom Fighters

VGHQ wrote:IO Interactive have just announced that they will
be revealing their next game very soon– wildly speculated to be Hitman 5.

On Twitter, the developer announced:
It’ll [The game] be cool. And we’ll officially announce it fairly soon.

Also teasing:

The next game from IO Interactive will be like Viagra for your gaming libido. Satisfaction guaranteed. I kid you not!

Tore Blystad, IO developer also let out a series of tweets:

Finally able to tweet about the new game we’re developing here at IO in Copenhagen.. I’ll be posting lots of game dev stuff here!
Going to ITU (Copenhagen) tomorrow to lecture about directing games. Have to be indirect not to give away too much about the new game..
Having big level design discussions about a
centerpiece level of the game today. Hot topic:
Freedom of choice vs. clear direction..
