AHA! The Return of Alan Partridge
Spice World!
It’s been a long, desolate eight years in the wilderness without the insane ramblings of everyones’ favourite former talk show host, Alan Partridge.
When we left Alan, his house had finally been built and girlfriend Sonya was set to move into the caravan outside. For work, Alan was doing relatively well on Norfolk Nights on radio Norwich, corporate events and Skirmish: military-based general knowledge quiz show on, er, digital cable channel UK Conquest that has the largest audience share for a digital channel at that time of day in the Norfolk area.
We are still waiting for official word of a Patridge movie where, the character – played by Steve Coogan – does most certainly not go to America, as writer and producer Armando Iannucci has stated on several occasions.
The series will contain 12 mini episodes (11 minutes each) and http://www.fostersfunny.co.uk will start the series on 5 November. Plot thus:
Alan has moved onto the next big thing, broadcasting to an unlimited audience, that’s right: digital and online radio. Partridge’s groundbreaking radio segment, Mid Morning Matters, from North Norfolk digital will be available to the six billion fans across the world. In fact Alan himself has released the following statement.
“I am delighted to announce that after years as a regional broadcaster on North Norfolk Digital my groundbreaking radio segment, Mid Morning Matters, will now be accessible to a potential audience of billions via the World Wide Web.
“That it has taken Fosters to help realise my dream of joining the information superhighway is a damning indictment of the established broadcasters whose shabby treatment of me on Sept 10th 2001 was frankly shabby. I made dozens of calls the next day, all of which were ignored.
“My appreciation must go to Armando Iannucci and Baby Cow for ignoring the lies, god bless them. In the meantime I look forward to “hanging out ‘n’ chillin” with the MySpace generation.”
According to Iannucci on Twitter the first three episodes are ‘suited and booted’ let’s hope eight years has twisted Alan more, and that he’ll steer clear of backstabbing central and shattered dreams parkway (London).
