For us international guys, is it possible to improve the quality of the recording? Even though I'm good at english, there are some words I don't catch because of the 'telephone' recording. I'd also like a more 'compact' editing, if that is possible, although it might push the podcast a day or two.

Also you tend to say some weird, scratching noise sometimes. Is that english slang for something? ;)

Keep up the good work. Thx.

The "weird scratching" is covering up the multiple swear words (mainly from Tom) ;) as its a family show. We'll be experimenting with other cover-up sounds in future I'm sure.

There aren't any other ways for us to record, Dave and i live about 100 miles away from each other.

Not sure what you mean by compact editing, this weeks wasn't as tight as previous as i had one day less to edit.

You could just each have a microphone, and have audacity loaded up and press record at the same time. You can get a decent microphone quite cheaply. Then use wetransfer.com or dropbox or some other equivalent to share the files for editing. Should improve the quality massively.

I'll return with some more comments on the compact editing, when I find out what it was I meant :)

Emirates was good. Really good. but completely different to how i was expecting the day to go. i was expecting it to be more like the day we had at guildford, but it was actually more like how you would remember the emirates last year.

We also weren't allowed to film anything. :(

Thanks very much fella, glad you liked it. This weeks looks set to be a long one. got about an hour and a half recorded, editing at the moment, and havent even started on the questions thread yet, will be doing that tonight, don't panic though, i will cut it down as much as possible.

I do hope it's not a let down this week, we sort of bigged it up a bit much i think, and then the day didn't pan out at all as we expected. The worst thing was, we were explicitly told not to film, and then yesterday loads of photos and stuff popped up from the events. i guess it just shows phil can't be everywhere at once.

Anywho, i'll do my best to make it a quality edit, it will be up tomorrow.

Yeh, I was fraustrated that they said that friends couldn't tag along and then while we were there randoms were walking in and playing and some brought friends anyways. On top of that they had some guys just set up and start filming with a bloody tripod for christ sake (VIP2Gaming a youtube channel) and they took up that bit for ages. More power to them but EA said we couldn't film or anything in their thread on the forums. Next time I'm bringing my mate and an HD camcorder.

Defo the best poddy in the series…

Firstly game play speed. Finally I can have that bit more time to play my patient passing game. In the WC game I have been going online with lesser skilled teams such as Japan and Australia to tried to impose my passing/through ball game on the other player. With Fifa 11 having the game play speed slowed down this will suit me to the ground. Thumbs up from me.

Going back to Pro passing should we have the option to change the min/max values for ProP. It would be great to have an option which could cater for the casual gamers as well as the hardcore lot (like myself). The only issue with this is that it can only be done offline. For online there will be a standard variance for all which cannot be toggled with. Maybe something that EA could give us for 2012.

This toggle to the sprinting is awesome. Then having so many other small options which could make a big difference to human player interaction with the game is next level. EA should shout from the roof tops about these little features that they have added. Oh, and 'doing' another player with the left stick and not using the skills button is wow! Just like the old PES ......

Tom – you sound the most laid back person ever!
Great work and feedback lads.

Just finished listening to the podcasts, cheers lads, game is sounding great. I've been guilty of pre judging fifa11 too soon and maybe jumped too soon on the band wagon of negatives. But am feeling so much better after yours and a few Evo Web'rs impressions. I think I am so desperate for this game to be rid of 10's exploits. Can't wait for the demo although typically it's released on my wedding anninversary so I don't know how that's going to be received, it may be my last anniversary lol. Again, thanks for the excellent info and also for addressing my question. The Q and A is something that should be a FSB Podcast regular feature. Nice to have Glen Cooley on too. One of the few places I hear he is not banned from lol. Now what's next for FSB Friday.......Mr Rutter himself perhaps. Now that really would be a coup.

Excellent Podcast Guys. I've recently listened to the other four Podcasts in prep for this one and they get better as they go along, keep em coming. :D Good to hear Glen Cooley on the poddy, I sometimes read his posts on the official forums. He seems like a smart guy who definitely wants to see the game improve/progress to play like a real game of Football. It was nice to have a special guest on, hope there will be more in the future. It was good to hear your thoughts on the games various improvements due to the fact that you guys see the game pretty much the way I do.

It was a strange 10 or so days as the Gamescom videos did not do the game justice and somehow managed to show the game in a bad light, I didn't read to much into them. As time passed, more videos came and the game seem to play at a better pace, so the truth came out eventually. The demo sounds like it will be good and even then it's a cut down version of the full game. With game improvements and the new modes (Be a Goalkeeper) and the revamped manager mode, this game should be epic. It Sounds like EAC have made vast improvements under the hood to enhance the playing experience, sounds like a good years work. I've been long convinced that these guys are not just going to sit back and admire their work but they genuinely strive to improve the game year on year. Online should be a bit more playable this year which is good news as I don't usually bother due to the way the game played, offline should be just as good. oh yeah, thanks for answering my question. :)

Just a quick shout out to Adam & Suff, a couple of months ago they said that FSB & WENB were going to step their game up and they have. They brought you guys on board and with additional personnel to both sites its always good to look in here. If these sites are not the Premier sites for all the Football videogaming goodness then they soon will be. :D

Yeah i'm really happy with the site and how things are going. It's a pleasure to be a part of it.

I had some reservations with the quality this week, but no one has mentioned it yet which is good. I ended up with about 3 hours worth of audio to edit,so i just didn't have the time to tune everything sadly. The hour and 40 minutes that didn't go in are almost 100% outakes. Can't wait for Dave to go on holiday so i have an excuse to use them :D

haha, i might well be. Someone told me once that stress causes heart attacks and i don't want one of those, so i decided to never get stressed ever again. Closest i come to it is going on the official EA boards, does our blood pressure no good at all.

I think we could do. the thing is, i think we are done with these pre launch events for this year (waiting for confirmation of something, if it happens i'll do another Q&A).

Glen's a top top bloke, it was so nice to finally meet him on Monday, really clued up, plays a tonne of fifa, cares about the direction the series is headed, i'm glad that people like him have the relationship they do with EA. He smokes like every 10 minutes too.

As for having Ruttski on... i would personally love it, but i'm not sure if he would do that kind of thing.

Still listening to the poddy. Fantastic poddy. Covered everything, even analogue run that many missed.

Great poddy. Great guest appearance from Glen. So much info. I'll have to listen to it again as I was making a cheese-melt while listening. Yes, it's that long that i got hungry!!

I went to the gamerbase event myself but I still feel i missed loads so it was good to fill in the gaps. I'm more looking forward to the fullgame than the demo so I can get a hold of my beloved Spurs :)

BTW you can drive crosses with R1 and "cross button" to emulate scholsey. :D Did one with alonso in the demo. Quality.

Really happy to hear about the player switching fix, seems like the experience from 10 to 11 will much more distinctive compared to 09 and 10.

I just hope attacking players read situations better

I too have really been enjoying your podcasts and the info you're providing. Looks like FIFA 11 is really shaping up to be a great game. I've been playing FIFA 10 to get ready and am anxiously awaiting the demo in mid September.

Thanks again for your efforts!
