This I think is the SAD REALITY of the BOOT situation

As someone mentioned on one of the threads earlier and some people shot it down I am beginning to believe there is an element of truth in the whole situation with the boot malarkey!

I really do now believe that this introduction with the generic black boots and the unlocking of Nike boots etc is nothing but a marketing and advertising ploy by companies such as Nike and Adidas etc to influence the gamers out there that these boots make a difference!

I can understand if Konami are getting paid X amount of money to put this in the game but did it need to be done in a way that seriously questions the authenticity of its trademark Master League campaign that so many people buy the game for.

Scrolling through my Xbox Marketplace last night I came across this in the Game section and for me it just is so strikingly similar to the new addition to the Master League campaign.

What do you all think?

I put forward this notion as a working theory, as it provided the simplest explanation of all, much more (IMO) than an out-of-the-blue, ad hoc idea from Konami. However Adam dismissed it and he is (much) better informed so probably this is just a coincidence.

What is more sad is that Konami are not addressing the hardcore fanbase about the situation...Losing sales by the day.

I agree. I made the same point the other day. Silence is about the worst thing in these type of scenarios: it fosters all kind of rumours and innuendo. Is much more damaging than saying anything. Anything at all. Even that they plan on doing nothing. This is salvageable, for all parties involved. But silence doesn't help.

Also. The social channels. Every business is now fully aware of the potential of the social channels. They see it as a way of accessing in a direct way a large number of people. This is very powerful from a commercial point of view and they are spreading across those channels more and more. This will get more and more true with time. To the point of seeing direct social channel integration in-game, even in places where it doesn't make any sense.

But (and to my point).

When they evaluate the potential gains and how to use it more to boost sales, they seem to forget one essential thing: they are a two-way street. The channels aren't there just for them to make money. They aren't there for them to use when the feel like promoting/plugging an event/product/service. The other side of the coin is even more important (and companies in general seem to ignore this). When the potential (or real) costumer has an issue: that (for me anyway) is the real asset they overlook continuously: when something goes wrong (and it will) then it become more valuable than any other type of campaign they might do. Having a clear channel between 2 parties when problems arise can be key to solving/defusing/smoothen the whole thing. If you are still wondering think about it like this: in your life, when is it more important to have an easy way to communicate with your friends/family? When things are good? Or when a problem occurs? The same with customer-companies relationships.

Social channels are not only for pushing stuff to people to buy... They should be a two-street channel of communication, having the most value when problems arise.

You are right.
Social Media as outbound and inbound channel is a marketing fundamental in 2012.

Has there been any reaction elsewhere in the PES online community? I wonder how widespread the condemnation of the boots feature has been because that might factor into how necessary they feel it is to muster a response.

tbh pes4life, i thought you were right when you came up with your notion, this spot by Rach pretty much confirms it for me.

would be a mighty coincedence if the boots have the ability boosts which link up with the 'boosts' as per this advertisement. seems very deliberate to me

for me, ML has always been a fantasy game mode ....

let's get serious: players retire and return to 17 years of age!

but, ok, I understand that many "take seriously" ...

I agree: boots = money, this is business ... Nike, Adidas, Puma, etc are pretty happy with this ...

I try mate. The thing is when discussing a theory without proof, why wouldn't I trust who is closer and has more inside knowledge of the problem? Until real facts emerge, proving or disproving the theory, isn't it the most logical thing to do? Hope that is what you are talking about...

I didn't mean any harm really. Just that sometimes you come across like "I know absolutely everything" on every matter discussed. Lol that's all.

Nevermind me though.

Sorry if come across like that. Nobody knows everything. And I only (try to) speak of what I know (if it is an objective matter). I'm more careful with subjective matters as they don't lend themselves to factual conclusions. And it's true I have many interests and like to be informed about them. So I understand your POV. Please feel free to point my mistakes whenever you see them. Also I try to follow these when posting here: viewtopic.php?p=247026#p247026

I think it is about how far the word "trust" you use. ;) When it is informed that this ML boot boost is there in ML, yup i believe. To how far it breaks my experience.. this is different matter :)
25 July demo so far :
1. CPU ai attacking/defensive play and balance --> almost there, need more passing around
2. Cpu crazy-dribbling and crazy one-twos then direct shot exist --> nope
3. Overall graphic colour and night match lighting --> fine, except horrible night match
