haven't been on here in just under a year...pes2012 didn't cut it...nor fifa12...no football games for a year and I'm feeling deprived :(

how similar is pes2013 to pes2012?

thanks

I've been playing PES2012 again because the latest pacth has improved the game, the goalkeepers are so much better.

Playing offline the game is superb - but online is a different matter due to the whimps using speed merchants with a combination of full blown assisted passing which results in a arcade fest of ping-pong football.

Can someone explain the problem with the speed merchants ?

Imo the problem lies elsewhere. Cause of course a game needs to have those insanely fast players, its the ai thats to dumb to let them through on all occasions.

Dude, there is a Fifa blog for this stuff. Also, i take EA's word with a GIANT GRAIN OF SALT. The spend at least 10 times more on marketing than they do making the game.

I got a E-mail from Konami-PES 2013 site. It's a mail of thanks for the support, probably sent to every user who partecipated to their surveys for PES 2013. What caught me was this:

Another example of how your feedback helped: many of you stated you prefer playing PES 2012 without use of any pass support. This inspired us to enable optional full manual passing and shooting. Thanks to new PES FullControl you can precisely place shots exactly where you want - if you can master the skills required of course!

This should mean that manual passing too is enabled as a option?

If you guys notice, Fifa13's Attacking Intelligent and First Touch Control features are both what PES has/ going to have in konami's upcoming release in PES13

Seems like EA is sensing some serious threat from PES, and they are literally declaring war on PES this year.

And please ShadowBot, dont pull the "there a fifa blog" comment on me. It just seem rude and uncalled for.

as long as it's relevant to PES i dont see a problem.

I also noticed the attacking intelligence and first touch too. the latter being cited as a community request. if that's the case then konami are bound to have had the same or similar info. so it wouldn't be a surprise to see them both announce the same thing. as we all know it's how these promises are delivered, 'talk is cheap' ;)

I would definitely like to see a better version of the free-kick thingy they announced in pro though/ for anyone who has read my rants set pieces are a massive nitpicking area for me. will be interesting to see if PES has any advancements in this area. i did ask John Murphy but i wasn't expecting a response, he did follow me back on twitter though! 8-)

Fifa lack player individuality and weight and inertia. And they keep ignoring it. They try to replicate Konami ideas and put more tech in it, but their game still lacks far more important stuff.
They should really focus on the above aspects.
But as usual it will be praised as the ultimate football simulation bla bla bla incredible new features bla bla bla...

yh ive also just checked FIFA new features , they are looking tremendous ! really cant wait to see both games in action.. looks like a good year for footie games.
BUT
BUT BUT

a pinch of salt in both sides, not until we get gameplay vids and feedback from players.. its all words ...

but both games are looking promising.

but one thing i noticed is.. becasue EA have nailed the physics and animations in their game , they are able to doo soooo much with their game. to make it look and feel realisitc.. its MUST that konami make a huge leap in the animation department this year.

PES will not make a huge leap on animations. Adam said visuals will not change completely. Still, i hope for better physics and much much more animations.

Hmmmmm interesting I will reserve judgement on manual optional shooting until hands on, just pray to god it is simplistic and intuitive, something Konami don't have solid track record in executing.

As I have said before , I want the option of full manual passing shooting. But for manual passing to work really well, the player icon control will have to be change. At the moment passing the ball and the next player the control jumps to is flawed, example: I have a defender on the ball just inside the box, I hit a pass decent power to I think a team mate 15 yards outside the box. The ball rolls up to him and rolling past him he does not highlight, I hit L1 many times but nothing, from out of sight from the top of the screen my CF is highlighted and on a auto run back very deep to get the ball. Now that is only one example of passing going to a player your not aiming at, or even ones you are aiming the pass to go to but they don't highlight. Now if that icon control system is the same with Manual passing then manual passing will not work.

I'm also of the opinion to take things with a grain of salt on both sides. Last year was the first time I'd been bitterly disappointed with a PES game. But the funny thing about it was that the game seemed to get worse in some aspects from one demo to the next and finally into retail build. And everyone was raving about how good PES 2012 was in preview builds so they obviously mucked it up as time went on.

But PES 2013 is a new dawn and a new day - another opportunity for Konami to correct the flaws of the previous year's game and to make it as good as possible. I think Konami's biggest problem is the period of time between preview code and release code as they always seem to overcook it. But hopefully not this year.

Funny rumour regarding the PES 2013 cover:

Complete nonsense as CR7 will be for 1000% on the cover.
I was playing FIFA because because I have not known PES. Now I play PES because I know FIFA!

September 25th.. 99.9% sure that won't happen. 10th October onwards atleast.

I like that cover, but why would they make a huge deal of the CR7 contract and not put him on the cover? Haha again, not happening.

Last night I was playing PES 2012 and I was Sevilla, my beloved spanish team, and versing against R.C.D Espanyol. I dominated the game having 7 shots on target and they had merely two. I also hit the bar a couple of times with Kanoute and Escude. You wanna guess what the score was? I lost bloody 2-0. Pisses me off when a team scores all their shots on target, especially when you're playing in a league. Their keeper was doing heroics stopping all of my shots and yet my keeper, a better one, can't keep two one on ones out. So unbalanced and unfair, KONAMI need tow make the scripting less obvious. That was the last time (I hope) playing PES 2012 and I'll just have to wait till 2013 I guess
