If Konami had a sense of humour, their version of PES Street would focus on 5-a-side matches in deserted local parks, with rusty swings and squeaky, old roundabouts eerily moving by their own accord in the background, the games themselves being played on muddy, uneven turf between groups of replica-shirt wearing kids of varying heights and creeds. And of course jumpers for goalposts.
THAT would be a real street-based football game!

Any news on a podcast. I heard someone mention Saturday I think on the comments is this true?!
Quite recently after the 1.06 had some great games of PES 2012 last round of the Champions league against Milan on Professional and an exhibition games Athetico Vs Bilbao and for the first time in a looong time felt the CPU A.I did not cheat to win which was a great feeling especially in the Champions league where this type of CPU A.I strangeness normally happened before the patch. Hope 2013 keeps this up and the CPU A.I is more normal like the 1.06 patch.

Then they will bring out "boy against the wall" playing in a council estate kicking the ball up the wall
They could have detailed backgrounds like Street Fighter games, with the various characters viewing the match in the foreground. If you look carefully you can see a girl being felt-up by a lad behind the council bins.

When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea.
Ron Atkinson - 'When Scholes gets it [tackling] wrong, they come in so late that they arrive yesterday'
'You can see the ball go past them, or the man, but you'll never see both man and ball go past at the same time. So if the ball goes past, the man won't, or if the man goes past they'll take the ball.'

Rach08 wrote:I havent been playing MLO for a while now really - its poor this year, however I signed in to MLO last night for 1 or 2 quick online games. Quickly signed out again as all my players were on a blue or purple arrow bar 2 players on a green arrow! Well done Konami. Superb form system this year! #idiots
I have adressed this before (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5597&p=278959#p278959) and I have criticized the MLO arrows myself. I think it was Bravez who said (I apologise if not) the implementation is wrong, not the idea itself.
I think that is the case.
I'm writing this because some complain about the arrows and others about the (MLO) durability factor. While not necessarily the same (people) doing both, this seems to be a classical case of "you'll be damned if you do, and damned if you don't".
Put yourself in Konami's shoes for a while. Imagine you are a Konami designer for a while. They wanted (I am sure) a lasting, enjoying MLO experience. Not a "let's make some games until I have the world's best XI players in my squad until it get's boring" kind of experience. So they had to think about changes that would make that happen.
Of course this is a long (and subjective) discussion of where they have failed and why (and everybody will have, I'm sure, a very good opinion about it) but that is not my point.
So what is my point? They had this idea of having us building a real squad. Not just a playing XI (like I did last year). They wanted us to have a proper/full squad. That would mimic real life squads and make the game last longer. Because (simple arithmetic) it takes longer to buy 24-26 very good players.
So what what have they done? They thought: how will we achieve this? And they come up with the arrows. Having a full squad would allow us to have always a playing eleven with green/yellow/red (I mean good) form, without having to constantly engage in the buy/sell cycle (the reason the wages/contracts were introduced). They didn't intended that but that is how people choose to play (same mindset of MLO 2011).
The thing is people abhor change and while faced with it simply refuse changing their mindset and trying to understand the why. I am like that also. But it is much more preferable to focus on the good (the mechanism itself) than the bad (the extreme way in which it is implemented). That's all.
BTW. I am not defending them (Konami). There is plenty to criticize (eg. the absurd god-like AI moments that ruined all offline matches for me for the first time ever, and the speed merchants online, are but two). But there is something to be said about giving credit when/where credit is due.
Peace
PS: this is not addressed to you Rach, your post was just the pretext to these things I wanted to say.

Yeah they called it Wallsie in London and pretty much all of england mate, you must come from one of those really posh boroughs in London where everythings grossly overpriced, the stench of latte and glare of harvey nick's sunglasses is overwhelming, all inhabitants are unfamilair with local colloquialism, pie n mash shops have been replaced with the ever expanding empire of corporate coffee chains - gleaming steel tables are adorned with pretentious rags such as The Guardian, Telegraph and not a copy of the Currant Bun in sight.
Failing that it's down to my age mate as I grew up on the south coast and everybody and their dog called it Wallsie

Or a CL special mini game, where if you take Chelsea to the final, terry gets auto suspended and before you see the players down the tunnel it cuts to a neon lit bar in London. where you take to control of JT in a mini game, The aim is to cary on tradition, his favourite past time of urinating agasint a bar in public.

What a way to lose the title, since the bayern final of 99 never have I been so emotionally wrecked, I thought my heart was going to explode at one point... Anyway it would be so cool if ML could capture this last day feel, even though I'm so gutted football was a big winner today..
