I do agree, I feel the same way - Konami need to create good things then stick with it, I hate seeing sudden, unexplained, sweeping changes that becomes a step backward and not forward.

looking forward to PES2013...big time so lowering player speed and manual shooting is goona be awesome.

could be just you ......lol, I've been playing BAL legends online and tried MLO (just once on weds) the game speed online was fine, you could try changing your game speed settings and see if that makes a difference.

Please no, unless the can incorporate stat based error in the manual shooting, i don't want it. I used to play manual on FIFA and at the time thought it was the nuts. . . . then i started playing PES again.

Nail individuality and make sure its possible to pass anywhere, there should be influence from stats.

Manual shooting shouldnt mean the manual system from fifa.

If i understood correctly, by manual konami mean we can pick height, power and placement. And thats how it should be. The thing is that they have to create 1 setting thats superior so everybody wants to use it, not because they are forced but because its just better than anything else.

I think there's something to be said for manual-ish controls. But I also think there's a lot to be said for quality in simplicity. Because if you turn everything fully manual you lose player representation. If you try to add layer upon layer of depth you run the risk of over complicated the controls and premise.

It's like football managers who want to analyse everything down to an exact science, football is a simple game and doesn't need to be so complicated. It's not rocket science. And it's the same with football video games....intuitive, challenging but fair, true to life and ultimately fun is all it needs to be. It's what PES was the epitome of and that's what brought it to the dance. If you ask me I'd say Konami in striving for innovation have been guilty of over complicating the issue whilst not having key elements in place that in all fairness shouldn't even be in question, ie goalkeepers, football basics, online etc. Just silly design decisions, but with each new iteration comes a chance to improve as you're only as good as your last game.

This is why it's important for PES to release the best game they can with what they're currently working with and keep errors to a minimum, but much more important to come back with a bang on the new consoles with the new engine. Because people won't care about PES's troubles of years gone by just like it hasn't affected Fifa. As long as you hook the people initially you'll bring them back. When you're hot you can't do anything wrong, but when you're not it's almost impossible to put things right until you get that opportunity to put your foot back in the door.

you've put it in a nice way, where I'm coming from is PES's manual is beautiful to use, yes you have to take some time to practice but the football is pure sweet simulation.

The majority of FIFA's stats don't matter regardless of the level of assistance you're playing on. Most people just assume that because the manual shooting and passing completely ignores stats on FIFA, that's what's going to happen on PES.

Why shouldn't you have complete freedom of where you want to put the ball on. It's the outcome of that action that should be stat dependent. It's one thing to not have the ability to do it with anyone (like it currently happens with shooting), it's another thing to hypothetical be able to do it with anyone depending on their stats.

Totally agreed.

I hope konami makes the power bars consistant again. Cause you can have manual passing and shooting but if theres no consistency is the power bar its still not manual.

Agree 200%. One of the (few imo) things FIFA takes the damn trophy is on how consistent the power bar is, it just feels right!

Make it load slower and make the input match the output. You know it's all wrong when the official PES 2012 site instructs you that the correct way to shoot is only taping square..

because in fifa their power par has four marks to determine the amount of power you would expect when you full half of the bar for example. In PES the power bar is just using colours to differentiate between the length and its a very poor idea.

It's not because of the colors lol. FIFA powerbar loads much slower than the one on PES. And most of the times, it's completely random, the same amount of power gives you completely different results.

Good post anderson.

Without individuality and stats, given the current engine's limitations, all we would have is a poor man's FIFA with slightly better A.I.; I think the input of stats is so crucial to the ethos of PES and why it was beloved on the PS2 version and why it still differentiates from FIFA til this day. So when I hear Adam talk about individuality is paramount in PES2013 I get wood

BTW I'm stoked for a big week of impressions from the PES Tour! 8-)

LOL
you got me wrong ,I mean in PES there's no thing the divides the power bar(the colours aren't enough) and as you said it goes up fast ,so that's why it's random.
Fifa has divided it into 4 parts and that's makes controlling it easier for the user.Since PES2011 introduced that power bar under the player ,it became generic and random. That's why some guys wants the old power bar back just like it was in PES2010.
For me I would like them to have the best of both worlds ,keep it like it's now but divide it just like old PES.

Egg-mutha-fookin-xactly ... What stilll grates me is that Konami created a fully manual Penalty kick system in 2011, granted it was different and controversial among PES fans, but most people who didn't bother learning this perfect system & wrote it off publicy with the usual forum whining to Konami to get it removed..why I ask???
So Konami being Konami acted on impulse and did excatly just that by replacing a perfect PK manual system (on any game ever) for the automated generic system we have in place now. I waited all my gaming life for an in depth rewarding PK system :(

I know it was not popular with all, but how can you replace something fully manual and born from fan requests only to can it a year later as the usual forum cry babies didn't like it...same with Link feints, but i'm leaving that alone before I contract a stress induced hernia.

Do anybody know what they mean by lowering player speed ? Cause as it is now, sometimes even if you press sprint fast players just jogs to the ball, when a sprint could result in a great chance.

The player doesn't jog to the ball, that's the perception you get because there's still some sort of "catch-up bug" implanted in the game to keep people from being speed whores. I've mentioned this before, certain stats aren't respected by the CPU AI. If you play online you don't notice this problem.

It may be regarding the fact that the player animations are too quick on 0 speed even if the general pace of the game and the ball seem to be correct

But it shouldn't be too consistent, because if it were then the shot power stat would be void. It should be somewhat consistent plus stat based. Meaning you shouldn't expect the same power half way thru the power bar shooting with Del Piero as opposed to Gerrard.
