Couldn't get past the first paragraph of the eurogamer review...
IGN's review was ok. I wasn't expecting them to score it so high from what was written though.
One thing i have noticed from previews/reviews is that everyone still insists that fifa is the more realistic game of football. Granted, their animations are better but individuality is also a major part of what I deem realism...how can a team that all play the same be judged as realistic? Fifa is all fur coat and no knickers if you ask me....

How any reviewer with any self respect could give FIFA a 9 with a broken 1 player experience is beyond me. Its obvious they never played the game for a long time before reviewing. More like had a quick go and got instant reward etc.

Problem PES has, like I said in the podcast, is that you have to get used it. The sites slating the game just haven't got enough time for it, because Konami didn't give them loads of cash for ad space unlike EA.

How any reviewer with any self respect could give PES 2008/2009/2010 a 8/9 is also beyond me.. oh wait!

Yeah Konami lost all their money last time they gave all they had to IGN which is why 2008 and 2009 scored so highly.

You're nothing but a hypocrite, hardly anyone takes you seriously outside of this little "home" you have here with your brainwashed buddies.

LOL you made yourself look really stupid there.

Hypocrite, me?

From the top, whether PES 2008/9/10 is good is OPINION. Whether or not FIFA 10 1 Player is broken is FACT!

And you're right about IGN giving PES 2008 9.2 was down to ingame advertising, we said that after the review came out. I remember me and Suff laughing at the score when it hit on the podcast. Not sure why you're making out we're hypocrites.

People act like I been giving PES games 9's on nextgen and not playing a PS2 game for the past 4 years. Oh wait...

But after all, you are an idiot.

Problem PES has, like I said in the podcast, is that you have to get used it.

personally, what is the fun of a game, any game, that you can pick it up right away, what happened to the learning curve, take metal gear for example, its good playing on normal, but if you just play it the first time and don´t touch it any more you will be losing a hell of an experience, and that is the same thing with pro evo, up until now in the demo, i´m still learning, and improving my game, and i belive that´s how a game supposed to be, the more you play the more you see new stuff, and that sure make´s you feel better, also that´s how you improve by having challenges, real challenges.
the general public these days are very shallow, luckily people over this site are not like that. :D

Long time i havent seen such a bad footy game review. Of course i´m talking about Eurogamer, as usual, i dont like their reviews and this one was clearly writen by a Fifa fanboy. :o He doesnt praise nothing on PES, not even visuals.

There's not much you can do at the end of the day. A review is an opinion of one person. The Eurogamer reviewer admits he's not really a true fan of either FIFA or PES, which means (in my opinion) he's going to pick FIFA as his favourite as it's much more immediately accessible.

PES will, and always has, be a grower. It's a game for football technicians to enjoy, to delve deep into tactics and foil their oponents, sometimes sneaking wins with a glorious 92nd minute piledriver after a mediocre display. FIFA is for people that like to play football without having to think too much about the more intricate details of the beautiful game. As I have stated somewhere else this morning, FIFA is for everybody, PES is for people who understand football. Anyone can pick up and be reasonably good at FIFA, but it takes somebody with a deep knowledge and love of the sport to be able to pick apart PES and find the truly intricate details and inspirational moments that define what the series is all about.

That's what I'm hoping for in PES 10. Those last minute screamers that leave you sliding across the living room on your knees, celebrating in front of your disheartened mates.

Just my opinon anyway

Eurogamer is not an awful website at all, the fact is some of you are spitting the dummy out because they only gave it a seven, which I expected. They review similar to GameCentral on Telextext by not going overboard on games unless they really have to. Remember the whole "they hate PS3" rubbish? Well owning both consoles their comparisions were spot on when it came to the multiplatform judging, spot on. Again difference of opinion is the problem.

They are right what they say for certain aspects of the game, it still moves like the PS2.5 I was dreading and that for me takes away the realisim of the old simulation days. Animations DO matter this generation, if you have got two games next to each other in a video game store display and the casual gamer watches both of them and see that one has more realistic movement than the other what is he going to think? He picks up the controller of the one he likes best and ignores the other one. Doesnt matter to these people if it takes 10-15 games to get into it. Graphically I think its the best football game ever made and the online is meant to be fixed to major kudos to Konami for that but they still have a lot of work to do Konami, I really hope any feedback given from these fansites concentrate on the critical aspects (not just for the sake of it) but for the good of the series and not just "oh konami what you have done is amazing". Being critical is sometimes for the best.

I totally agree. I find that ALL of these reviews are missing the mark. I think I'll only be taking in-depth coverage reviews (the ones that go into detail about everything you can expect from the various modes) seriously and not these hasty, scanty, based-on-one-match reviews which tell you nothing at all. And are often biased by what the reviewer would like to play....be it fast-paced PES 2009 or no-football-brain-needed fifa.
I happen to play exclusively on my PC though i occasionally dabble with console gaming. So all my observations and declarations will inevitably be based on PC versions of fifa and PES. Please keep this in mind.

btw. german mag "PC Action" gave the game 89% for the SP and 91% for MP in it's print mag.

Claiming that concerning the PC there's finally a clear decision about what game to buy with FIFA 10 scoring 6x% (think it'S 64 or 66).

The fact of the matter for me is FIFA 10 is not a 9 out of 10 game by any means. I find it hard pushed to give it 8 with the not so clever AI and the fact that Manager Mode has a gazillion bugs and that Graphically FIFA is hardly pushing the 360 and PS3....

BUT I also have to say that Konami have GOT to take this game off of the train tracks that it has been running on since 1999. I will enjoy PES 2010 no doubt and Master League will keep me on it. But they need to free up the game and make things a bit more convincing whilst keeping it real with regards player individuality. If they can work on these things for 2011 we are in for a treat.

Gaming these days is all about asking for more. I mean I havent even played the full product and nor has most of this forum but we are already asking for more!

I do have to admit though at times there is a touch over positivity here and thats 1 big factor as to why so much criticism is labelled at WENB when the game doesnt meet the levels required to some player.
I promise I wont be condescending in my posts.... I mean well guys :) Roll on PES 2011 and FIFA 11 :)
PES 2010 is my game of choice at the moment. FIFA 10 has been traded in and WC 2010 the AI simply isnt good enough.

I knew this would happen, to be fair I don't think the reviews have any credibility at all. Fifa 10 is at best a 7/10 game for me..i mean players freezing on the pitch ffs. EA have behaved appallingly this yr putting out a game with so many bugs and just expecting the public to lap it up...mugs, pretty much every single one of us that bought it frankly.

That said, I knew the second I saw gamescom footage that PES wouldn't get a chance. The way it moves really lets it down once again and its a shame. It just doesn't give you that instant wow factor that a next gen game should....at this stage of the game it really should. I just hope they hire some new animators next yr. Still gonna buy it though cause FIFA 10 is unplayable right now.
