:) thats precisely how I felt! Normally I dont do Hype Machines but when I saw how this panned out I was like WOAH!!! They appear to be listening to their fans which is precisely what is needed to move the series forward!
I promise I wont be condescending in my posts.... I mean well guys :) Roll on PES 2011 and FIFA 11 :)
PES 2010 is my game of choice at the moment. FIFA 10 has been traded in and WC 2010 the AI simply isnt good enough.

I just hope they haven't added 10 extra animations and made up all the atmosphere and teamvision stuff, teamvision definately wasn't very apparent last time out!

But my hopes are definately up, looks like a dedicated team for online aswell, its bold for them to come out and say this because they will be slated if it fails again.

I think it was a great release and i am optimistic to say the least. More animations, better master league, more atmosphere, improved commentary and the list goes on. Excellent

The Amount Of Times We Have Heard Konami Say...'We Will Fix This...Will Change That' & It Just Hasn't Happened...
BUT

This Time...I Think Seabass & The 'Crew' Have Genuinly Realised That Pro Evolution Soccer Is Behind In The Football Simulation Game Market.

They Have Done Exactly What Was Needed & The Most Important Thing....Taken The Gamers' Views Onboard.

I Am Convinced That Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 Will Bring Back Many PES Fans Who Have 'Turnt To The Darkside' So To Speak.

I Cannot Wait For More News :)

I really don't see the problem in graphics. If you zoom in PES2009 the players look amazing! I don't think they need a new engine, only bing the engine they have now to its limits. What me concerns is the animations part. I'm sure it will be a lot better and smoother than 2009 but won't get to Fifa09. Even after weeks of playing I'm still amazed by the Fifa09 animation. That tells me they have a very high variety of animations. Someone on the Fifa forums said even after months of playing he saw this one animation he hasn't seen before. I don't think PES will have that.

Since we are talking about small things as well I must be the person who mentions the bane of the fourms for always asking this.

* No more gardening gk gloves

* Licensed GK gloves please & Editable GK gloves

* Choice of GK kits because in either PES 5 or PES 6 when you played as England or Arsenal can't remeber who one of the GK kits clashed with one of the other teams.
WILL 2010 BE THE YEAR OF GREATNESS? PES 2011

Bring back the true representation of the beautiful game. Let Ronaldo shoot like Ronaldo, Messi Dribble like Messi, Fabregas pass like Fabregas.

COME ON EXPAND THE EDIT MODE LICENSED GK GLOVES PLEASE!!!

This forum is on fire. I just completed translating the pressrelease to Swedish!

For me the most interesting thing is that they realized that the game has to go back to the roots. Which they state two times. They have also taken into interest that not everybody wants to play an all out attack game where the power of the strikers is what matters ALL THE TIME. I will enjoy this immensly if I can play two types of games, a tight defensive (4-5-1 Counter Attack) game with a smaller side like Real Betis and an all out attack game with the likes of Lyon.

Animations stringed together in harmony with reworked moves for turning, shots and passing. It sounds like music to my ears. More info about licenses should come soon! =)

I like everything they discuss in the press release....but I would have loved to hear/read something like, "we are also committed to bring back every successful features in past PES games which made PES a great game....things like Manual keepers, and other stuff"
When they are talking kicking animations and that stuff, I hope the end result of such animation will give me the feeling that PS2 PES 6 shooting mechanism gave when scoring goals.

This is my feedback to press release:

Gameplay: It' s really a good thing to read that Konami wants Pes 2010 to be a simulation.

Improved visuals: It's not a problem if there is only a little visual upgrade. It's perfect that Konami underlined the stadiums improvements, they are really needed.
Please, please, no more gardening goalkeepers gloves, they were so good in pes ps2.

All new animations and moves: This is exactly what i wanted to hear, the animations must be closer to reality, not robotic.

Match day atmosphere: I'm happy for the improvements in crowds and chants, and the italian commentary, with Pardo and Altafini, in my opinion is already good, but an improvement is always welcome

Enhanced Master League: It's all ok, but Uefa Cup and Champions League must be present in this mode. Enough with WEFA Championship when we have the license for the real competition

AI: I would like to suggest to not try to change many things, the most important thing is to bring back pes 2010 to its simulation roots.

Individual play Characteristics: It's a good thing that every player has individual play characteristics, but i hope that the strongest players will not be able to always dribble and score all by themselves. It was really a shame in pes 2008 and pes 2009 (even if in pes 2009 it is less frequent) and makes too easy to score if you have, for example, Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi

Strategy use: Really good. Strategy must be the key playing with Pes 2010, as Konami stated, Strategy and quick passes

Penalties: It's good to hear that, if it's based on Wii's penalties system

Enhanced online: The online must be really improved, in pes 2008 and 2009 lag is always present. Online gaming is never like offline (in a bad way). Anyway it's good news that there is a dedicated section for online side. Hopefully this will bring online gaming back to pes 6 days.
We will always love Pes

Re: PES 2010 PRESS RELEASE FEEDBACK

Postby Alan » Wed Apr 08, 2009 7:10 pm

A few quick opinions on the press release:

- A large press release this early is a huge positive and suggests to me the developer and publisher are confident with what they are going to be releasing 6months from now.

- Touching on specific gameplay features such as the ability to move several players at once and the new strategy system is very encouraging and I appreciate the offering up of these specifics in the first details regarding the game.

- The actual quality of the writing of the statement overall is excellent.

- Revealing the Europa License is further encouragement that the publisher and developer are being far more pro active in the licensing department and the suggestion that there integration into the game will be enhanced is great news.

- Addressing the issues of Penalties and Master League - criticised for some time now - suggests the development team are listening.

- The section covering 'individual play characteristics' is a very interesting one. PES' players have always had character, but to make a statement on this part of the game suggests to me that further work has been done in this department which is frankly superb news.

One final thing...

I haven't given any opinion on the 'improved visuals' or all new animations and moves' statements as for me the proof will be in the first footage/screenshots and hands on previews as to what lengths the game has improved in these departments, and I gather that is what Konami are thinking also - let the fanbase come to there own conclusions on these aspects of the game and don't let it dominate the press release. They can only give us text in this press release so there is really no point in getting bogged down in technical specifications.

Many have openly criticised the lack of the term 'New Gameplay Engine' and I can sort of see there point, but to be honest the words 'Improvement' or 'New' could easily suggest as much to anyone willing to read between the lines. Many gamers might not even know what a 'gameplay engine' is, so really it is not worth mentioning. Leave that kind of tech speak to EA. Besides, I don't think anyone can honestly say that a complete revamp/refinement of the existing engine would make a bad game until we see and more importantly play it.

Speaking of EA, I am glad Konami have avoided the numbers game here. Last year EA kept blathering on about 250 key Improvements to FIFA09 yet nothing was followed up on after the statement, and in FIFA08 it was all about 'thousands of multiple calculations' a player could make. I can honestly say I didn't notice 250 improvements in FIFA09 and I bet many others didn't either so such claims are lost on most people. Konami have stuck to the basics here and I for one am glad that they have done so.

A statement of intent confidently delivered Konami. Things certainly seem to have changed.

But PES used to be like this. I remember playing PES3/4/5 and seeing new animations two or three months after release. Konami need to get back to this. It can be done.

We'll have to agree to disagree on the graphics issue. In my opinion PES2009 is not up to standard for a next-gen game. Put it up against any of the sports game from EA & 2KSports and the difference is embarrassing.

Re: PES 2010 PRESS RELEASE FEEDBACK

I was taken by surprise with the sudden extensive Konami text. I am happy with most of it but it also leaves some things unclear.
I printed the text to spel every word and I agree with Tauren ( I think was his name ) on page two that things sound a bit familiar to the press releases for PES 2009, although much more extensive.

Some good points are the renewed Master League and the fact that is mentioned about the similation and not the arcadish game that PES 2008 and PES 2009 were.
Unclear to me is if we are talking about a new next generation engine or a reworked engine, used in PES 2009?
That is important as some things cannot be done in the old engine, like manual passes, or at least 16-direction passes.
Is that in the game?
I think I speak for a majority if I say that manual passing like it is in FIFA09 is something of very high priority.
Everybody complaints about through-passes that went in completely wrong directions as happened in all titles from PES 1 to PES 2009. This is really a thing that makes the difference between a PES that can fight the battle with FIFA09 or not. VERY important!

I see that there is a team dedicated to "the on-line -side of PES2010": Instantly followed with a statement about downloadable content. Why is this such a short sentence about the commitment to improve the online side of PES 2010?
I cannot read if that means that the team is also ( MAINLY!! ) working about on-line - gaming and not working at downloadable content. I hope they do not mainly work at downloadable content.

Knowing that Konami reads this, I like to take my chance to stress the HUGE importance of on-line gaming. These days the majority of people play games on-line and if that is not upto the current days standard, you simply loose clients!
A lot of them ( including myself ) stept over to FIFA for only ONE reason: On-line gaming!
I hope Konami is aware that their on-line -efford in PES 2008 and PES 2009 was that far below par that it costed them a lot of clients. PLEASE make it a very good job this year!

Unless someone can tell me differently, if the game still have the basic 8 directional movement of all the older PES games, then passing will be restricted to the same old passing of the old pes games. Player running direction will be the same, as well as shooting. 8 points on a Dpad .. running forward you have Up and Up Right and Left .. Left and Right. Just now with 2009 I go on a run forward , I try to bend my run I roll round to Up Right or Up Left, a fraction over this and my player stops and sidesteps inside.

If this PES2010 has this same basic movement, then all the new animation and graphics will not cover what will be basic gameplay of the OLD Pes.

No, I am sure that they will at least make it a 16 direction this time.

Well, FIFA09 has (well disguised)8way basic directional movement of it's players, but the passing was more than that.

If you have FIFA09, stick it on and rotate the stick slowly through 360 degrees when in the arena. Your player will change direction only 8 times. However, shooting and passing uses more than 8 directions so it is do-able in PES also you would feel if it had only 8 way directional movement for the players.

I get the feeling player movement will not be restricted to 8 directions judging by the subtle suggestions the press release makes regards turning, and also what Adam suggested in his breakdown of the news on the Blog main page he stated that..

The animation count in the series has been shocking since nextgen, and this hit an all time low with every player having the same 90 degree shot fake animation in PES 2009. More news on this aspect very soon, expect this to be the biggest revolution in PES 2010.

Fingers crossed. To be honest I don't know how important having more than eight directions to turn is. FIFA09 uses 8 axis very well. If the transition and variety of turning movements regards speed, number of touches is animated well, you probably wouldn't notice it. Many still haven't in FIFA09.

It's a first press release, and the specifics of some of these enhancements is rightfully being held back. We can't have every single minute detail covered in this first release of information. Some things we will have to be kept waiting for!

Seeing as Konami will be viewing this thread, might I suggest that they look to to 'engineering' a viral 'leak' of gameplay footage, unedited and minus any music track. Just a clever piece of marketing that shows 15-20secs of a replay played at regular game speed that has people wondering "Is it, or isn't it" It could be filmed with a handheld camera of reasonable quality.

Please?

Fifa 08 and 09 have been 16 way movement when sprinting and 8 way while walking and jogging.
