Start looking from 2.05. Where is the defenders? What are they doing? I don't know if I can take one more year with bad defending AI + lobbed trough balls etc. Hmm.

can play on easy difficulty.

Does look a bit easy, but if these are human v human games then bad defending can be put down in the most part to poor human players / difficult defending controls

No its not. I cant believe im actually standing up for fifa here, but ive played games human v human, and i sometimes struggle with the defensive system, which makes my defence look terrible, and the same goes for my opponent.

But when playing against the computer, its a lot more solid.

True it's bad defending from most of gamescom vids either it be PES or Fifa. Also the short halftime makes the game look faster than it will be on longer halves.

I still think that making fifa less fluid would make the game feel better. IMO it's too fluid and weightless now. Haven't played 13 so I don't know how it feels, but it looks like 12. When I'm going back to 09, I can feel the weight in both ball and player physics, and that is what I like with 09, it feels much heavier.

I dont think less fluid will be the way to go. It needs more weight indeed, but real life is also fluid ;) I think pes is to stiff if you compare the two.

totally agree with that. They went down the responsiveness route and sacrificed being more weighty.

Definitely not for me. I've been playing the odd 10 minute matches of the PES demo, and while the game is often fun and enjoyable, it's equally frustrating and disappointing due to the fact that it just isn't as fluid to control as Fifa is. Nowhere near it in fact, and it lets the game down massively. It just gets frustrating at times to turn the player how you want or pass it where you want. Another thing is the physicallity of the game, or lack of. I often hear Fifa getting slated for introducing so called pointless gimmicks like the Impact Engine. Pointless? No. Innovative more like. You really do feel the massive gulf in difference between the two games when you feel like you've been blocked off the ball, nicked in the ankle, impeded in the slightest of ways, but still your brains tells you intuitively that you've been fouled, and you are usually correct when the ref blows for a free kick. That Impact Engine just gives it an extra layer of interaction in the same way the smooth controls do. So they can look a bit disjointed at times giving the illusion that they are sliding or floating, but its not a big deal and its a compromise well made and tended to by EA. There are times when playing the PES demo where I've been hacked and barged all over the place, and even though your head tells you its a cert free kick, the game doesn't think so because the tech doesn't exist for it to tell it so. I do hate bringing these comparisons up between the two, but as I've said before due to noticing a lot of ignorant and ungrateful comments, EA just will not get the credit they deserve for pushing technology forward instead of keeping things the same which they could so easily have. They are always looking to improve and that impresses me.

Oh, and the weight of the players and this so called inertia and foot planting thing can only be explained in a simple way by mentioning one thing: 16-way movement. With 360 degree movement, it's the tiny little degrees of motion in between that can't be captured in the animation cycle and transitions. That would probably requires thousands more animations and then key framing them to get them to blend seamlessly together. In real life, the human body can adjust to slight degrees and changes in motion, computer animation just isn't there yet.

They should fix the deffending system, every CPU atack results in goals.
If you contain, they advance 'till your box... then you make a penalty or they score a magic goal.

Looks good but the AI is shocking. Might be on easy most of the time but still the position play is a joke like previous years. A result of this is that it's really boring to look at, no interesting plays from the defense or defensive midfield. Backs don't play any important part in build up, that's almost unthinkable in today's football. EA really need to step up their game man, the game has no depth whatsoever in terms of gameplay.
Pes has it the other way around, they need to step up their game in terms of visuals. The AI is really ahead of fifa since last year.

i agree 100% with this. I think the fluidity and responsiveness creates an illusion that the game is realistic but in reality i think every match plays the same, build up play is largely pointless and player runs are still far too linear

Why cant you play a season, as whatever team, but with no CPU transfers, no manager mode bollocks, just playing the fixtures?
Like in PES?

All I want to do is play a season or so as Lazio, and try to win the league

I dont want to have to manage my players morale, I dont want to play against AC Milan with Rooney and Ronaldo (cos some of the transfers are stupid) I dont want to lose my star player cos Barca bid for him and he wants to go etc

Lighting is a big improvement that seems to have flown under the radar?

Hope they have finally made an overcast day option at the Emirates.

Isn't that what the tournament mode is for?

Hey guys,
Apparently the FA have now enforced a rule where clubs have to have exactly the same pitch size as each other. This may now solve our problems in Fifa 14? The reason we have gaps between the stands and pitch in Fifa is because it isn't possible for them to have different pitch sizes in each stadium in the game. Now teams have to have one standard pitch size, the real stadiums should have gaps between the stands and the pitch so Fifa should have realistic gaps in Fifa 14 lol, as it is too late to change it for Fifa 13. I'm sure we will have conspiracy theorists flocking to the forums, saying EA paid the FA to enforce this rule so they don't have to find a way around making pitch dimension different in every stadium in the game haha
