I like that sentence, especially the word whip. That's exactly how I would describe my feeling about the shooting in FIFA 09; there's just not enough whip on a lot of the shots.

In Pro Evo with those same players I feel I can score a pelter bottom/mid or top corner and I believe I can do it and it does happen. I don't know why this is missing in FIFA but you just can't pull off those ridiculously powerful shots from distance the only time you get that kind of shot power in fifa from distance is when you are taking a fk they need to use those fk ball physics/power in open play to as this is by far one of PES's best assets no question. I know I am rambling but hopefully you get my point. It just doesn't feel natural in fifa when you take a shot from distance in PES it feels perfect.

Because in PES some STATS do make a difference...

FIFA gives you more control over some things (like Passing the ball) at the expense of Player Likenesses.

My opinion on FIFA is that it isn't intuitive enough, and the unresponsive times + the unnecessary complicated controls... it doesn't allows realistic Play. FIFA09 is not Football in my opinion, it's repetitive and predictable. Too much focus on the Pace of the Pass, on the Dribbling Tricks via the Right Stick, on actually getting a Shot on Target, on Strength and Aerial Abilities -but- not enough Football Play, which is essentially creating plays and outwitting your opponent.

In FIFA09 is Attack after Attack after Attack... it's not challenging, and it gets repetitive and predictable very fast. How can you have a respectable Football Simulation when you barely have any freedom to actually Play Football?

While I feel you probably are a bit harsh on FIFA with that post, I can't help but agree with your points.

I never thought of FIFA in that way, excellent point mate.

Yeah I'm very harsh on both FIFA09 and PES09, but I'm the 1st to admit that both games can be fun to play and both have their positives and negatives. It's just that IMO they are both a bit outdated, and should be better by now.

Well, maybe not FIFA, because FIFA has improved a lot since going Next Gen... But after playing PES5 and PES6 I go to PES09 -and- I can't help but think that Konami got complacent after PES5.

Who is Mr Bauer CW? ;)

It's the same time every fortnight, hence why I always put...

Don't forget, every second Sunday is FSB podcast day!

...after each podcast update on the site.

So the next version will be available this Sunday around 11am BST (British Summer Time or GMT+1). Then the next one will be at the same time two weeks after that - June 7th, where we'll be analysing the big FIFA 10 announcement (see today's news update on the main FSB site for more). :)

The new podcast has been uploaded!

This week's podcast (CLICK HERE TO LISTEN) asks:
Are you looking forward to the launch of the official FIFA 10 site? What kind of announcement(s) are you expecting? Which of our Be A Pro suggestions do you agree or disagree with? Do you have any more to add?

As always we will read the forums between podcasts and all the best discussions will be given a mention, so if you have anything to say on the subject(s) please let us know. If you agree with us, disagree with us, want to correct us on something, or want to add something that's important, tell us and listen out for a mention next time.

Thanks as always.

Just checked out the new podcast. Awesome guys, awesome!

Here are my thoughts:
Uploading your own player to represent yourself/team: YES, PLEASE.
To have ACTUAL equal stats players: Yes. I would love this. Would love to see less Man U and France teams because of the "equal stats". And this would actually encourage people to upload themselves.
Goalkeepers: I would be one, permanently. Depending on how they turn out, control-wise. (I am one in real life, so I would love to represent my actual position... I am one of those people that do not care about scoring goals, but saving them instead. There ARE defenders out there... not everyone needs to score goals to enjoy this game.)
Man of the Match (Clubs): How about a 5 second window for everyone to vote for the MotM from a list of the top players, instead of 1 person (captain/manager) picking them themselves.
Club Stats: Goals Scored, Attempts on goal, MotM, Yellows, Reds, Injuries, etc. etc. Stats that COUNT and that we actually care about.
No International teams in Clubs: Completely agree. Doesn't make sense!
FILTERS!!

I was expecting SO much from FIFA09 Clubs that, long before the release of the game, I started bringing together people for a team. Giving them positions/roles, giving them jersey numbers, voting for a team name/logo, etc. We planned out runs, and formations.... Then Clubs came out, and my work: pointless.

Life goes on.

Here's some more ideas: Vital FIFA10 http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/fifa ... tal+fifa10

Thanks guys.. great job. Can't wait for this!

Great podcast Chris and Chris. Fantastic stuff and totally agree with what you are saying about the BAP mode.

The part about BAP online is so true. Me and the rest of my teammates have been playing on BAP as a club since Fifa 08 and we play every night and the amount of cheats that there are is crazy. Be it the real player stat thing like you both were saying, the half way line glitch or not sure if you know about this, the back post corner glitch. Its pathetic and people really need to play the game fair but like Chris W said, its going to get worse rather than better by the looks of it.

With regards to the dodgy formations, we have played a match once where the team we was against had a formation that read - 8-1-1. Jesus christ.

Cheers for the comments lads.

Oh and Gari I have seen the back post cheat corner but for some reason I forgot to mention it on the podcast. The annoying thing is that the player at the back post doesn't even have to be particularly tall but if he stands in the right place and the ball in is perfect he can score almost every time

Yeah its a joke Chris. It happens so much and its so frustrating. Yeah the player that they use at the back post can be about the same size as midget but they will still score if they get the positioning spot on. Its so annoying.

There was one point that me and the lads were playing and we had 5-6 defenders at the back post surrounding their player and somehow, he still out jumps our tallest players and scores. I cant believe that EA have not released a patch for this and the other glitches like they did with the 'crab walk' one.

Great Podcast guys, nice to get a name check right at the end. :P

Ive analysed your speech behaviour Chris and i think i detected from your voice that Goalie (11v11) is definately in Fifa10. Tut Tut...those ninjas are coming to get you.

The whole "how big can football get" thing has got my juices flowing in anticipation. Oh well, another summer of checking forums every 2 minutes for the latest Fifa news. The wife will be pleased.

Now do i pre-order this year? hmmm! Having to read all the posts from ppl who got the game through the post a day early almost killed me last year.

Good podcast as ever guys :) CW a dirty online player? thats news to me  Ive seen some of your tackles CW in Team Play when we used to play FIFA 08!!
I promise I wont be condescending in my posts.... I mean well guys :) Roll on PES 2011 and FIFA 11 :)
PES 2010 is my game of choice at the moment. FIFA 10 has been traded in and WC 2010 the AI simply isnt good enough.

Great Podcast, I just hope EA listens. I do not agree with the trick stick though. You guys just got to practice with it and find which tricks work where. And which tricks are just to show off when you are killing a game off. :D

But most of the tricks are far too complex to actually work in game as the amount of time and space you have is minimal and rarely do you ever get time to plan your next move. Of course, there are tricks that can be pulled off but for the majority, its very hard indeed when trying them in-game.
