FIFA 11 Q&A Thread - June Playtest

Postby Adam » Fri Jun 18, 2010 9:41 pm

Hey guys,

As you know played the E3 build of FIFA 11 today. I'm cool to take questions, although me and Suff will be doing a podcast tomorrow too going more in-depth with our impressions. That should hit FSB on Sunday.

But fire away if you have some questions :D

Hey Adam great to see you enjoyed your time as you said on twitter

My first questions:

Q. After playing FIFA 11.. what would you give it compared to FIFA 10?

Q. Can (with special players e.g. messi, ronaldo) you dribble through the defence using dribbling alone (without tricks). e.g. one of messi's crazy runs that beats 2/3/4 players

Q. Can you pull of 50 yard gerrard type passes

Q. How slow is the pace from 1 - 10

Q. Did you get to play the CPU, if so, what was the AI like

Thanks man :)
Thank you KONAMI..

Hey Adam,

Has that 'floaty', 'skatey' feeling of the running/the ball gone?

Hi Adam, I'm glad your playtest went well. Thanks for the tweets throughout the day.

Has the 'pressure' been addressed, both against human opponent and Ai?

Did the fatigue system get a make over?

How has EA's first attempt at 'player individualism' appear to be shaping up. Can you really feel like your Cesc and the like?

Hey,

1) Much more realistic than FIFA 10. The easiness of passing made that game a bit of a non-skilled exercises at times. They've fixed it by making passes much harder, but having this under the hood power bar system, which determines power and accuracy. Simple taps of X wont do, even on assisted.

2) Not whole defenses, but for sure players here and there. Messi was scary as hell to play with or against, his change of direction and this 'bounce' mechanic meant anyone trying to shove him off the ball via brute strength would fail as he'd bounce back at you!

3) Yep, there's this new bouncing long pass move too, which looked nice and felt great. Ball physics are loads better.

4) A scale? It's slow and feels right, thats the best way to describe it ;)

5) Did play the CPU, wasn't too great tbh, but its early. Same defensive line problems etc, but the opposition now do tricks against you.

Yes, a 100%. You feel this instantly, as the 360 dribbling isn't as profound. Skilled players like Ronaldo and Messi are great at dribbling and feel more responsive, but overall there's a feel EA have reined in unrealistic turns and instant degree turns.

Everything has more weight to it, and its something EA are unsure about keeping. Its uncomprimisingly realistic, but might not be for the casual.

Adam 3 questions

1) FIFA 11 have the same feeling as FIFA09/10?

2) Individuality compare to PES? Do you like more in Pes or in FIFA?

3)Graphics compare to Pes 2010?

Thanks

no probs man,

Yeh I loved the pressure system. Again, one of my huge complaints about FIFA 10. But you really can shield the ball realistically right now, meaning you can keep hold of the ball much better.

Dare I say it, there's now a place for slow skilled passers in the game! People like Cesc really ran the show mate, like stupidly so. I was stunned by the realism. I played against someone at the event and he took Arsenal while I took Milan (obviously) and the way he ran the midfield with Song and Fabregas was very realistic, as he used both their strengths.

As a PES fan, let's hope they take it out  .

But seriously, that was the barrier that prevented me from getting into FIFA. Nice stuff. Won't inundate you with anymore. I'm sure hardcore FIFA fans will chip-in with some better questions.

Cheers.

1) Did you have some 'oh, snap' moments (substitute snap with proper cuss word you tend to use), and what where they?
2) Did your men stumble and falls as much as in fifa 10?

Hi Adam.
Some questions from me as well.

1.) As I read on your twitter, the "its all about strength" thing is gone in fifa11? Or is it still full pressure and then just crash the opponent away? I mean, is it still all about who has the stronger men or can you now hold of stronger men too?

2.) Any improvements in player switching? Its horrible most imes in fifa10, very random and sometimes totally auto by cpu.

3.) Is a pass feint in?

4.) Are the sliding tackles faster now? And is your man getting up quicker after a sliding tackle? In Fifa10 you did a sliding tackle, won the ball, but your opponent was 9/10 times quicker on the ball again because your man needed ages to get up after a tackle (does my head in...)

Thanks in advance sir :)

First all, less PES comparisons. Lets face it guys, I'll be perceived to be biased. PES is my game, and will always be, so comparison questions are worth nothing to you guys. I might answer them further down the line, but right now I want to focus on FIFA 11 for its own merits.

1) FIFA 08 is a good example.
2) The shooting is AWESOME! A trillion times better than FIFA 10. I scored so many crackers with star players against Suff :)
3) Yep already answered, felt great
4) again answered, heavy and realistic.

The keepers and the passing.

I cannot stress how incredibly awesomely realistic the keeper behave! Jesus, its like a real person in there! Just wait until you see it for yourself. They animations, the true-to-life abilities in saving shots etc, its so satisfying.

The passing is something I want to detail in the podcast. It took my breathe away, and single handedly made playing with small creative players like Sneijder and Xavi worthwhile.

1) Yeh really important to note (again already answered) is the physicality is tuned so even smaller players can with-stand pressure. When I was Nesta I went for Arshavin, and my opponent swiveled the little russian to avoid me. There was still some visual representation, as Arshavin stumbled, but he was always in control of the ball.

2) Still pretty bad, but don't forget code was super early, 50/60%

3) Didn't see it

4) Slides looks loads more realistic, but are conceptually the same.

Hi Adam.

1) When playing against the computer was the individuality present in the computer controlled players, and did each team play differently. The lack of variety in FIFA 10 when playing single player was a big gripe of mine....

2) Do players like Fabregas, Pirlo and Xavi really stand out in the game with their vision and amazing passing? And is the gap between a player with the passing ability of Xavi and say Puyol really noticable. In 10 everyone pretty much felt the same, with speed and strength the only defining attributes.

Thanks

Hey Adam, just two quick questions mate,

1 - How did you find the in-game graphics compared to Fifa 10? Anything stand out?
2 - Did you get a chance to see if there were any new camera angles?

Many thanx man

I'm sold on the idea of what EA hope to achieve more than anything. I'm sure, knowing EA, they will change loads in the game.

I'll be honest, graphics look nothing like those screenshots we all saw, and player models looks like last years PC player models. Something I hope they fix.

Did you get further info about Custom chants? If that's the case, I have a question. Do I have to upload youtube clips and such? I mean, audio from the games or can I just sing something and then that clip converts to audience singing? Sorry about the english, pretty tired
I´m the guy who leaked the first FIFA 10 video to the official forums
