- If possible, do a FANZONE commentary!
Get people to send in voice clips and put the good ones in the game and give people an option to pick default commentary and/or Fanzone commentary!

Of course I realise the fans have to be really dedicated to do this but it's not like they have to write code, just commentate scenarios/ clips and send them in.

Let's be honest, it's not going to turnout out worse than what it currently is  and it'll take the community involvement way beyond anything seen before in this gen cycle.

-No scripted commentary let the commentators have free reign.

-Please get Clive Tyldsley this guy is awesome

-Have more info relating to the team and players past performances

-I really want to hear the commantator go mad when you score an important goal or last minute winner, not fake mad really mad or CL FINAL 1999 'Name on the trophy'

-Less repitition

-More on players when they are playing well i.e 'He's in such good form and his confidence is high it's like he score all the time' or 'This keeper is unbeatable at the moment'

-More on atmosphere

-Big games maybe the commentator will say things like 'Games don't get bigger than this, the next 90 minutes will be filled with drama as these two teams battle it out to become kings of Europe'

-More reactive commentary if you are chasing a game ala CL FINAL 1999 'Can they score they always score'

-If it's been a high scoring dramatic game have the commentator comment on it.

-When winning a trophy if you have completed the double have the commentators say so or if it's the treble again CL 1999 ' F.A Cup, League Champions everthing their hearts desired (team) are the championsof europe.(obviously without the competition not licensed by Konami)

-Talk about over the top challenges

-More reactive in terms of GK saves i.e Gerrard shoot.... OH WHAT A FANTASTIC SAVE' and then the reaction. 'It was well struck Clive but that was a top class stop'

-
TALK IS CHEAP SO IT'S TIME TO SHOW YOU GOT GAME KONAMI?

Individuality, Excitement, unpredictability and emotion.

Replace Mark Lawrenson with someone more enthusiastic.

Make sure the commentating is not cut off by the change of scene. Example, do not cut off the sentences the commentator is saying when the user chooses to skip the replay. It ruins the authenticity of the commentating.

Do not describe the player in such dull manner. Example, "Here's Lampard. *dull descriptive voice* The tireless worker."

Allow the commentator to finish his uttering even in tense situations. Example, Champion always says" And THE VOLLEEEE!!" and you can hear the word being cut off, instead of him finishing the word.

konami outsource commentary to another developer. as a long time player from the snes and ps1 days this is one area konami will never get right!!! i still laugh when i remember the "steel skull" and "the wind is shooting through the stadiums" lines as well as the original pronunction of N-I-G-E-R-I-A... in many ways so bad its good commentary defines the series and admit it we love it!!

Lots of good ideas here, i wont repeat those...one of the keys for me though is that the two commentators could be doing their commentary separately because they NEVER respond to each others comments, or have a back and forth conversation which is a key indication of an organic spontaneous commentary. We just get robotic little snippets, rather than the sense that there are actually two people in a booth together talking football. so we never get anything like " he's in great form lately isn't he mark?" "Yes, john, this a special run he's having this month." "Well, we'll have to see if he can keep it up over the course of the year" " i think he will, he's a young player but i think he has great potential and is gonna be a star in this league for many years"
Just an example, but it would be HUGE to helping the commentary sound more authentic. The fifa boys do this, and as others have said, its the lack of a cheesy script, but for me, more importantly, they react and respond to each other.
I think this is the single biggest factor in improving commentary.

The team should be equipped with over a few thousand lines. They have a year to prepare.

- 3-4 commentators with a mix and match.

- Player names should ebe taken more frequently

Obviously we would all love martyn tyler and dr andy gray, but why not try and get ian darke and jim beglin, or even peter drury and jim beglin. Hell if all else fails bring in chris kamara! at least he'll be enthusiastic, lawro commentary atm is a joke and he's just as bad in real life. Axe him immediately

At least 4 commentators.

Create a southamerican commentators type

Put lines with the name of the teams and stadiums in the match.

One of two things that seriously let PES down and has done for years, the commentating is awful! Better than past years but still so off the pace. Mark Lawenson is especially poor, no emotion in his voice, no connection with either Champion or what's actually happening on the pitch. It feels like they've never been in the same room let alone commentate on football games. It needs to be taken in a completely new direction, with either new commentators (of which there are plenty of commentators out there,) or even if you stay with Champion and Lawenson then they need to get together and commentate whilst the game is on, not just generic lines which fit every game, because that's not how it happens in reality. The addition of history between the sides is good in essence but there is not enough in this years game, and there's no real build up to the bigger games eg derby matches and more important Champions League games. There needs to be more excitement with goals, penalties, free kicks, bookings etc. Often there's a penalty and they are still talking about the challenge when the penalty has been taken and either scored or saved and nothing is said about, not true to life at all.
