That again brings up my desire to see separate stats for goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and attackers, each covering certain attributes necessary for a specific position.
With tweaked stats, PES 2010 just became fun again. Who knew.
You can edit the shit out of the goalkeepers, but they still will be wooden puppets... the problems is from the animations and the A.I. , Goalkeepers must have enough animations and they must be fluid and flexible. The A.I. is so dumb that i can't refer to those puppets made on wood lathe as goalkeepers... while EA are improving the goalkeepers in both animation and A.I. aspect, KONAMI are saying that the goalkeepers are improved and the result is "japanese" chopsticks... i really won't take another year of retarded and wooded keepers...

Agreed. AI and animations of keepers are terrible. That, I can't fix. But with simple stat tweaking, still wooden and rigid, keepers actually started doing their jobs. That was my point in the post you quoted.
If reducing on field players God stats and boosting goal keeper stats made such an impact on the PES 2010, imagine what would a combination of fluid animations, proper physics attributes and a new AI produce for PES 2011. That is, if Konami finally decide to do proper change, not just the Public Relation ones, if you catch my drift.

Re: Goalkeepers in PES
Here I go again, since Konami are all over the 1v1 situations in football i just hope that they also mean 1v1 with the keeper as well. Well here are my thoughts on how they can improve the keepers A.I.:
1. Keeper must get fit and flexible just like in Fifa... at least they look like they are... the animations stiffness must go away.
1.1 In the next gen PES the animation are awkward and bad, every animation have some kind of an invisible block area around the gk model. Also the only way to keeper can save a ball is when the ball is exactly where the animation was executed, otherwise it is a gol or the "invisible force field" kicks in. For example if the ball is like 10cm away from the animation there is a chance the ball to be deflected somehow and this works with almost every single animation, headers, shots, etc. The use of IK must end this madness once and for all...i hope.
The animations must get flexible, the hands, legs, every joint must adjust to the ball so the keeper can get the maximum from his position at the goal. The keepers must not let fate to decide whether there will be a goal or not... they must adjust their body parts to the ball, they must not wait the ball to do so...
1.2 Footwork, this is one of the most important goalkeeper features. In every sport where a quick reactions are needed, the athletes are training for quick feet, so they can always be ready for a quick reaction.
The stances are also important. In PES keepers stances were always the same. Keepers must have animations variety, when a keeper is in 1v1 situation he is always trying to attack him or he tries to close down the angle for the attacker. Keepers are leaning down with their hands spread around and they are moving them so they can quickly react when the attacker shoots and so they can cover more space too.
2. The goalies must have a lot of animations, so the A.I. must not feel limited and choose an animations which will do nothing at the particular situation, the most present example is when the keepers are parrying the ball with their feet. This animation must only occur when the ball is shot with great power on the grass exactly at the keeper and it is difficult to be saved with the hands... not like in PES 2010 where 50% of the saves are like this...
The variety of animations for the keepers will do wonders, just look at EA. They are constantly updating their keepers animation system with more and more animations, so they can make them as close to reality as possible, Konami must do the same thing.
3. Manual goalkeepers:
1. Easy manual goalkeeper on/off combination, not like in PES 2010 124325 buttons...just bring back the L1+Triangle!
2. When you hold R2, the keepers should change his stance and lean down with his hands spread, so when he tries to close the angle of the attacker he can easily make a save.
3. We must be able to move the keeper where ever we want to, full control just like the other players.
That's it for now.

Re: Goalkeepers in PES
I would like to see different animations for various goalkeepers. Perhaps more organising animations when defending a dangerous freekick ( keeper organising wall )
Definately need a variety of saves and maybe more " rolling " of keepers, not all the time just at full stretch. ( realism )
Maybe Konami should add an eccentricity stat to goal keepers ( football manager ) to show the level of discipline a keeper has. Eg David James plays good but is very eccentric as he makes mistakes and gambles way too much for a goalkeeper.
I would NOT want the goalkeepers to be invincible. Please keep it real, in certain close situations only few goal keepers pull off fantastic saves ( luck plays a big part in it ) Even the very best WORLD CLASS goalkeepers concede goals. Although I get frustrated when I'm scored against, I do think theres nothing any goalkeeper could of done. Poor defending from my part which lead to the goal.

Stats
The stats for goakeepers could be alot more varied and relevant like they are for the outfield players. Stats more like thos one Football Manager would makes sense. for example
Agility = How nimble they are at getting across the goal or to shots.
Reflexes = How quickly they react.
Handling = How well they hold the ball.
Ariel Ability = How well they deal with corsses.
Distribution = How accuratley the kick and throw.
Distribution skill = How skilled they are a varying their kicks i.e high trojectory, slow speed or low trajectory faster speed.
Distribution Speed = How quickly their kicks and throws take to reach players.
One on ones = How well the keepers does in one on ones
Aggression = The more aggressive the quicker the goalkeeper comes of his line(maybe aggression is the wrong word )
There is already an agility stat that does the same thing
the response stat is for reflexes
keeper skill is used for handling
for distribution you have long pass accuracy, short pass accruacy, lps and sps
there is a card used for one on ones
aggression stat is already there used for same thing

Re: Goalkeepers in PES
The Goalkeepers need further improvements as well as the players intelligences and ball control during matches.
