WRC

Just downloaded the demo for WRC off the PSN shop.

Im a huge rally fan, even more so than F1, I just think the level of skill and car control in rally far exceeds even that of F1 drivers. There hasnt been a good rally game since the original Colin McRaes, and I wasnt hopeful for this one, and I had seen some so-so reviews.

But, I actually think its fantastic. The graphics are great, the handling is pretty good, and its pretty hard, which is a good thing. Its made by the same people who made the incredibly average WSBK games, but it seems 4 wheels is more their thing.

Well worth a download if youre into rally, im tempted to buy it.

Downloaded it lastnight along with EA's MMA (which looks incredible, but I haven't a notion how to play), will try and get around to play tonight at some stage.
Glad your enjoying it Peruzzi.

Personally I think its great, the graphics are good, I dont spend much time looking at the scenery cos im too busy watching the road. The cars handle pretty realisticly, and its challenging.

Only thing I dont really like is the damage. I rolled the car earlier and not alot happened. Id like to be able to total the car so I have to retire from the rally.

I´m with Barry here the graphics especially the trees look almost ps2 like. Anyway the car seems to glide sometimes too much. and the visual damage isn't that good too. I tend to compare rally games to colin mcrae rally 2005 which is still the best out there imo. Compared to that its just too weak overall, not bad but too average.
And i really wanted to like it.

Its a shame I seem to be the only one who likes it

I definietly dont agree about the graphics, and having never driven a car at 100mph over gravel I cant comment on the handling, but to me it seems realistic. I cant imagine a car drives true and straight on loose surface at those speeds.

Again, the only thing I dont like is theres not enough damage, as I said, I rolled the car and nothing happened really, no damage to the top of the car, and was able to drive away fine. Id rather have been forced to retire due to the car being undriveable.

The new WRC looks like it's a good improvement from last year. Didn't had this on my watch at all, but from this video i'm really tempted to buy it. Looks good.

The game DOES look better than last year. Talking from a graphics point of view. The Interface looks tones better. Last year's edition had great gameplay mechanic to it and if they can improve on that with a new layer of graphics to it, this game is a winner. I played this game lots at my friends house who is a Rally maniac and he loved it. So you know they did something right with the game. Another game to look out for.

I loved it too, it didnt have the arcadey shiny feel of Dirt and thats exactly what I wanted. Hard too, ive only recently won the World Championship.

Will most likely buy this one.

I loved Dirt 1 the most. From there, they went into the 'Arcade' type of game. WRC was a welcome to the genre and thats why most Rally fans welcomed it with open arms and actually enjoyed playing it. Dont get me wrong, i did play the latest Dirt in the series and its hella fun to say the least. But WRC gives you the simulation feel the same way PES gives you that simulation feel to a footy game. ;)

Been waiting for a proper rally game. This might fit the bill.

Does anybody bought WRC 2 ? If so, is it possible to play a 2-player championship offline? With still all the KI drivers taking part in the championship. That's the only i need to know before i buy it (or not).

I thought the 1st was brilliant, but the 2nd a huge let down, the cars felt so light and uncontrollable, compared to the first one, no idea why they changed it.

Ill give the 3rd a go cos I really love Rally and I hope they can build on what they had in the first game, and not the 2nd.
