But i guess that's a good thing, (not for the xbox users of course) sounds like there's plenty of cutscenes, map and what not to discover.

I'm glad they did that im sick of games content being reduced because of the xbox i hope more developers do this

Read a few minutes ago that at one point of the production the game was to be released on 6 (yes 6!) discs. Only xbox of course. Now 3 discs sounds quite good again.

Only 3 days until i can play the GOTY.

L.A. Noire Selling Out Quickly

Okay, either pre-orders are a lot higher than one might expect or Rockstar's L.A. Noire is super hot on day one.

Typically, huge releases see a ton of extra copies - beyond the pre-orders - hit store shelves. But in a regular perusal of the retail locations in this area, we've found that Team Bondi's potential Game of the Year candidate is sold out all over the place. Out of five GameStop locations, all but one had no copies for anyone besides those who pre-ordered, Best Buy was sold out, and Target had exactly two copies left. Interestingly enough, according to one GameStop manager, the game is selling much faster than anticipated, which may explain its lack of availability...did Rockstar actually underestimate the widespread interest in this game? That seems extremely unlikely but even so, the fact remains: if you haven't picked up a copy yet, you may have difficulty finding one.

Hope this will not be the case in europe, can't wait any longer.

You had anyt problems with your PS3 over heating Silverstone?

PlayStation 3's recent 3.61 firmware update is causing some consoles to overheat and shutdown, according to Rockstar Games.

A post on the developer's support site points the finger at Sony's recent firmware tweak after a number of L.A. Noire users reported their machines were turning off mid-game.

"We have received some reports of PS3s overheating while playing L.A. Noire or beeping three times before shutting down/turning themselves off, mostly on older 60GB and 80GB fat models," it read.

"Primary reports seem to be that updating to firmware 3.61 will cause PlayStations to overheat. There have been various reports of this on a few different games now, all reporting their PS3s turning off or 'Red Lighting' after having installed 3.61.

"This can range from games randomly freezing to PS3s turning off anywhere between 30 mins use to two hours. We have confirmed locally that multiple games (Rockstar and non-Rockstar) overheat or freeze only when 3.61 is installed."

Rockstar instructed users to get in touch with Sony, but promised to look into the matter further internally as well.

"At this time we are recommending contacting Sony directly to report the overheating issue. However, this is not the end of our support; we are continuing to test L.A. Noire on all firmware versions and hardware models to isolate the issues and see what can be done. As always, we will update this article as soon as we have updates."

We've contacted Sony for comment and will update when we get a response.

Update 3.61 was released earlier this week to prepare consoles for the return of PlayStation Network services following last month's massive security breach.

Update: looks like Rockstar might have jumped the gun a little – they’ve retracted (removed) the original post and replaced with it one that suggests Xbox 360 owners might be experiencing crashes too.

That said, a support operative in the comments does reiterate the publisher’s original sentiments. “The issues of PS3s overheating appears to be due to the latest Sony firmware update,” it says. “We recommend contacting Sony if your console is shutting off during play.”

Our guess? It’s the game itself, not the firmware. We’ll see tomorrow when hopefully this is all cleared up.

I'm on the 80gb fatty too. Hope they sort it quickly.

I'm using a 120gb PS3 slim with 3.61 firmware and haven't had any issues with overheating nor anything else. Game runs like butter :)

Took some time out from police work today and just cruised around 1940s L.A. listening to the radio, looking at the sites and interacting with the NPCs, like you do in Rockstar games 8-)
