Turned this game off in sheer disgust yesterday :x

First of all, i had to restart qualifying. Why? Because i got a 5 place grid penalty. Why? Because codies didn't think to put in a system where cars on their outlap move off the racing line. I don't care if it's part of this new patch, it's utter bullshit that this wasn't included in the game to begin with. I'm on a flying lap, my quickest of the session, i notice i'm catching a Ferrari infront of me quite quickly. I know he's on his outlap because i saw him come out of the pits earlier. I finally catch up to the point that i'm right behind him having come through a corner and onto a short straight. He brakes for the corner, going slower than usual and i catch the back of his car. 5 place grid penalty.
The worst thing is, if the roles were reversed, i'd still get the penalty

Then in the race, i managed to fight up to 11th on the first lap. I stay there until the second lap when i take a cornera little wide and go slightly on the grass. I come back onto the track a little slow but i'm ahead of the car that was behind me coming into the corner i ease back onto the racing line and get rammed into and i spin. I get the warning...of course

I'm so pissed off with Bugmasters...

Racing in career mode in Malaysia, i start 18th. Manage to fight my way up to 16th having lost 2 places at the start. The sky looks worryingly dark but it clears as the race goes on. I'm doing well enough holding my own as i move up with the inevitable pitstops. I'm keeping the gap to the car behind me fairly stable. Then he pits and i lose places to Hamilton and Barrichello.

I don't slow down quick enough in my pitstop and have to be pushed back slightly onto the pitbox. No biggie i think to myself, i'll lose a place, two at most when all the pitstops are done

I come out from my pitstop in 22nd. I think, "as long as Di Grassi is behind me i'm fine" coming up to the hairpin at the end of the lap, i see Di Grassi is ahead of me. Three laps to go, he'll make a stop surely...but no he doesn't he keeps on his merry way and finishes 16th while i languish in 22nd through no fault of my own. So that makes me wonder, just how many cars actually pitted.

The sooner this patch comes the better. It wouldn't have been required if shitmasters did their job and actually saw these fundamental bugs which contradict the very rules of the sport this game "represents".
Absolute disgrace of a game at times

This is an absolute shambles of a game.
Doing well in China, manage to get up to 11th
On the second last lap, just before the pits i get a puncture. I've used all my flashbacks, due to an earlier puncture and a spin caused by a clash with another car who just decided i wasn't going past

So i decide to go into the pits, i stop perfectly on the pitbox which is a first and it takes the pitcrew 10 seconds, 10 bloody seconds to replace the tires! Then when i leave the pits, my asshole engineer proclaims that it was a perfect stop.

Just turned the game off. Not going to touch it until they release the sodding patch. So annoyed :x

Found another ridiculous bug.

Crashed in P1 at Monaco, terminal damage and had to retire from P1.

Start of P2, as soon as I press "go to track", the screen flashes red and it comes up "terminal damage" and im forced to retire from P2. Restarted the session 3 times and it did the same.

Stupid thing is, the screen for the damage after it says "terminal" says "speed: 0, damage 0%"

And again on P3, just had that disappear into the ground thing you had Danny. Through me into the barrier, terminal damage.

Pisses me off that the most iconic track, the best GP, seems to have been ruined by Codemaster inability to program games.

It's very annoying. It has the potential to be a fantastic game, it really does but the bugs are holding it back considerably.

The need to release the patch as soon as possible

Is the patch out yet? I really want to get back into this.

Edit: So i got off my lazy ass and checked out codies forum myself and i see the patch is out and seems to have addressed most of the issues, but have they actually been fixed?

The patch was out on the 4th of this month but you boys are still making complaints this week?

Like hell it has

Lets see...
Fuel simulation...not fixed
Pit stop bug...not fixed according to some
AI not getting penalties (I was used as a slowing damn mechanism for Adrian Sutil for 3 laps of Catalunya)
AI handling not effected by damage. I was passed out by an AI car with no front wing. That just should not happen
AI still never gets punctures (although if it did it'd probably do faster laps for about 10 laps  )
Extreme levels of slow down in the final sector of Monaco. Feels like 2 frames per second :?
Catalunya is still a nightmare in terms of AI. Everyone drives like Michael Schumacher in his Ferrari days
Pit limiter is still automatic, despite being on "manual"
AI cars break the pit exit line with no penalty
Still takes the speed of light to scratch your car

That's off the top of my head. In summary, the patch didn't fix things which are important, some of the rules of the sport. It's like making a football game with no offside rule

Something else just happened to me in my season as Webber, which really annoys me, and it brings to light another(!) issue with this game, that Hamilton is just too good. I mean he literally wins every race. Which is unrealistic for an F1 game, not since Schumacher at his prime did 1 man dominate as much as in this game.

I was leading the race at Montreal, with Lewis behind me. I was on a different stategy as I started on Primes, Lewis on Options.

Lap 5, he goes into the pits, I dont, so in theory I should be now around 25 seconds clear of him. I continue to post consistently fast laps (Montreal is one of my best circuits), yet by lap 9 as im about to go into the pits, Lewis is right on my arse. There is no way, even on fresh tyres, you can make up 25 seconds in 4 laps. No way.

So I come out of the pits in 5th and eventually finish 3rd. But that race should have been mine. All the front runners were on Options, which would have given me, as I say, a good 20 - 25 seconds on them before I go in, I should come out, either just ahead or maybe 3rd or so.
Complete bollocks.

Yeah that's ridiculous. I've had things like that happen to me as well. Annoying

Think i may be done with this game.
Doing Monaco practice, I do the R&D objective in P1. I crash later in the session and move on to the next one. Low and behold, i've to do it again. I do it move on and let it "save". Funnily enough it doesn't save the R&D progress. Had to do it again.

I do it...again. Then i change my setup, on a pretty damn good lap and in the final sector, i'm blocked by a Renault I end up only doing a lap that's 1 second faster than the slow one done in the R&D objective, despite being 3 seconds faster through the 2nd sector

The worst thing is that through the first sector, i'm one of the fastest and yet the CPU closes up as if i'm stopped

Frustrating as hell

haha well it addressed most of the issues i ever encountered in the half a season i played.

Im still just trying to get good at the game, on the most extreme setup the car spins so easy its a joke, yet im at least 4 seconds behind the 2nd last guy.

Also the driving line is wrong nearly all the time, at least it helps me learn the tracks.

I won at Valencia today, after qualifying pole. I started on Options, and pitted when the AI strategy said to, and I didnt get the pit lane congestion bug, so theres a chance that one was fixed.

But its still hit and miss, one race will go smoothly, the next will be full of bugs and glitches.

Ill be buying 2011, but only if previews and reviews say they have learnt from their mistakes. Remember this is a first attempt at an F1 game for them, and as a first go, its pretty damn good.

They won't. There was hardly a mention of the serious bugs in previews. The only one that i remember was SimRacing but their review came out after everyone went spare on the boards

Monaco is a massive joke. Between your car being sucked into the ground, hitting invisible barriers on the exits of certain corners and severe slowdown, it's near impossible to do well

They will, because they will have this game to base their opinions on.
So they will be able to say, for example, there are no invisible barriers this time around, like there was last time.

Youre right about Monaco though, perhaps THE most iconic race on the calendar, is ruined by bugs in this game.

For 2011 they need to fix the obvious bugs in this one, include the safety car, sort the damage system properly, and add little touches like little videos when you get on the podium, stuff like that. Id be more than happy with that.

Try the new Need For Speed, I'm loving it at the moment- addictive stuff.
But its not a simulation, just pure arcade racing.
