I think the addition of varying weather would enhance gameplay, particularly Master League.

It would also be a great (better) way to challenge us as players, rather than obvious AI cheating/ Form changes.

Muddied or greasy, wet pitches would challenge players who like to play short passes: they would have to adjust passing strength to how the ball may roll. Whereas Human and CPU players/ teams who like to play long balls or have strong players would be able to use their attributes to better effect: stronger players maybe able to deal with energy sapping muddy pitches and stay more solid or have better balance when challenging for the ball when on the ground.

 There's also an issue with the Secondary Press function. Many times when I use this, the game doesn't pick one of my teammates to press the opponent ball carrier, instead it makes my selected player chase the ball.

This function could also do with being more helpful in choosing the most suitable player to press the opposition.

bring back the shirt pulling

but with more variety of actual pulling the shirt (more animation for it)

the effect of the pulling must be more noticeable bij the player

It is impossible to score goals like this in PES 2011. KONAMI should take a good look at these goals and try to implement them into the game!
Shots are TOO floaty, as if the gravity is too low.

In PES 2011 =
Goal #10 : He would do a crazy acrobatic ninja kick.
Goal #9 : He would fail to hit the goal since he is "under pressure". Would most likely hit a weak shot over the goal or a weak shot that takes 4 seconds to reach the goalkeepers hands.
Goal #8 : See above.
Goal #7 : Impossible to make an assist like that. -> Impossible to fool defender like that.
Goal #6 : Impossible to hit a shot with that pace and trajectory from THAT angle.
Goal #5 : Defenders read your every move instantly, making it impossible for them to "panic" and somehow they reach max speed instantly without needing to accelerate even when turning.
Goal #4 : Attacker would NEVER make that run. Would probably stop somewhere around the midcircle. First time shot would be totally off.
Goal #3 : Impossible to chest-pass. Impossible to do that backheel volley pass. Finish would be a crazy acrobatic ninja kick. Again. Or a stupid diving header.
Goal #2 : Wouldn't be able to get such pace from the corner. Keeper would catch it or punch it to his own players. Goalscorer would once again do a crazy acrobatic ninja kick, get it way over the bar.
Goal #1 : Option to take quick free kick? Very rare. Shoot from quick free kick? Impossible. Also impossible to get that trajectory and pace on the shot. Keeper would read the shot instantly as it is taken, and of course save it.
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

just a little thing about animation even though there are other aspects of gameplay that are more important why is the rabona skill only able to be pulled of as a shot?? you never really see it as a shot in real life football you will see this normally as a cross so please implent this as a cross even though rabona shots are okay but make it difficult to pull of e.g. a combination of buttons so as it isn't easy to pull of alot especially online which would be annoying; this also needs to be done with rainbow flick to make it difficult. Add variations of rainbow flicks and other tricks to give more of a wider option and freedom(that is for people who want to use tricks,) lastly add more deft smart touches that we see in football like first time backheels aerial ones and ground. here are videos to demonstrate what i have written above...and also there are fifa videos.

I'd like to see a bit more tactical detail available to me in managing my team. Specifically, you should be able to have one set of tactics when defending and another when attacking. For example, if I'm playing 4-4-2 and my opponent is playing 4-5-1, I might want to detail one of my strikers to drop back and help out my midfielders when I don't have the ball, or I might ask one of my wingers to pinch in and cede space to the opposing full-back.

The situational tactics (i.e. the ones that you set for leading, level, and trailing) should be expanded to include defending. With a 1-0 aggregate lead in the second leg of a Champions League semifinal I may decide to play a deeper line, whereas my opponent might look to press higher up the pitch in order to win the ball.

BRING BACK PLAYER RUN ARROWS!!! Why Konami chose to take them out I have no idea.

We need more control over set-pieces. I should be able to design my own set play, save it, and implement it on the pitch when necessary. Right now all I can do is assign 2 players to come forward, put in a cross and hope for the best. I want to be able to take short corners properly again (not just by passing to the closest player to the ball as it is now). Defensively I should be able to set marking assignments specifically for set-pieces - if Vidic comes forward I will want one of my best headers of the ball marking him no matter what.

Spamming the slide tackle is too effective.

I've just played four (FOUR) consecutive people in MLO who would slide tackle at every single point of contact between my player and theirs. Every. Single. Time. And every single time it will bring my player down, fairly often winning the ball. When my connection is fine I can often jink past such challenges or at least be tricky enough to make such players more hesitant to slide. Tonight though, and on a couple of other nights when facing such players, there was nothing I could do - the lag was just enough that I didn't feel 100% in control of my players and could take more assured touches with the ball/react soon enough to do anything.

The fact that these players - be they Higuain, Valencia, Nani, Sergio Ramos, whoever - would always bring my man down, and if they won the ball would 90% of the time emerge with the ball tidily at their feet, was depressing. Plus of course, if they didn't win the ball then the referee would hand out yellow cards only, if they reached for their pocket at all.

My team consists of tricky, not especially fast but very technical players. If people keep fouling them when I'm trying to build play, or keep hacking them down to stop them running onto a 1-2, or just slide into everything without my players putting a fight up at all, then playing football loses to these Ong Bak idiots. It's not like playing Wolves or Stoke. It's completely beyond anything football has seen.

So what I wish for is for
(a) the slide tackling system to be less of a sure thing in bringing you down (more players stumbling rather than collapsing),
(b) your player when right up on the ball and being slide tackled PUTTING THEIR FOOT FORWARD TO CHALLENGE AS WELL rather than just running into the challenge (players in real life stick a foot out to try and keep the ball and lean back so that, on impact, they are thrown forward slightly and are back upright again),
(c) repeated slide tackles and fouls to accumulate with the referee and make him more likely to get yellows and reds out,
(d) for the slide tackling system to feel like it cares whether you are sliding in with a centre forward or a centre back.

It is crucial that downloadable option files do not interfere with gameplay as lets face it, it konami cannot afford to buy licences then many players will want to download these files to get the correct kits etc. Also I believe the game can be made more authentic by acquiring licenses for the premier league stadiums. Again this would be a cheaper option than buying the rights for the full league but would entice many fans of the premier league clubs to buy the game. For example, I am a Manchester City fan and for me to be able to play a match at the city of manchester stadium would make the game seem far more realistic. Whilst on the subject of stadiums, I welcomed the inclusion of the "create a stadium" mode in 2011 but this could now do with enhancement to give far greater detail and choice to the player. The next thing that could be improved is the extra content items which are unlockable. It was nice to see a feature in the game which required saving up points to unlock things however it was the things players were able to unlock which was the disappointment. Some of the animated "mario" style backgrounds and footballers heads as sweet wrappers may have been fun for some but which took the polish and professionalism out of the game for which fifa would never have been guilty of. When talking of the presentation, (which was far improved in 2011 with the revamping of the team management section), many warning screens could, in my opinion be removed. By this I mean, as well as the players needing to know not to turn the console off while saving etc, many warnings and info screens can be kept behind the exterior of the game. It has always been the case for me when comparing pes with fifa that due to fifa's glossy exterior, presentation and ease of use of the menu screens, it always feels like simply a game whereas, although much improved in 2011, pes can sometimes remind you that it is a computer program which is a subtle difference yet makes you feel a bit more as though something can go wrong. Another improvement which I still think can be made is the goalkeepers.
The goalkeepers still have a tendency make an almost impossible save and then next time let one in heading straight for them. Another problem with the goalkeepers is that they almost seem to have been forgotten in terms of individuality. For example, in 2011 it was obvious to see the different manners between Lionel Messi and Steven Gerrard yet if you were to compare Pepe Reina and Petr Cech who are two massively different goalkeepers in real life, there is hardly a difference. My final point is that of the ball physics and passing. The passing system was overhauled in 2011 with the introduction of the power and 360 degree system. This was a great addition to the game however I found the 360 degree worked tremendously well however the power did not 50% of the time especially near the edges of the pitch. Sometimes I would hold the button down until it reached about 80% of full power and yet the ball was stroked at about 3mph to a man 5 yards away. This compared with tapping a ball back from a throw in and it being belted off the the pitch into the advertisement hordings. I thought on the whole the ball physics were good on 2011 but found it had a tendency to feel like a game of pinball at times with the way it rebounds of players sometimes at double the speed the ball was originally hit. Although I do not want the ball to feel like it sticks to a players feet like in a previous generation football game, however I did feel in 2011 that sometimes the ball was hit too far in front of a player before that player could gain any pace which made it far too easy for the defenders to tackle and so made even players such as Lionel Messi feel slow.

Free kicks, goalkeepers and referees.

Free kick situations
Image

Indirect free kicks are far too ineffective in PES. Not only for the player, but for the CPU also. In the video, most free kicks just end up as goal kicks or in the keepers hands. It is very rare that they hit the wall or find a teammates head.
Mainly, the basic positioning is totally wrong. Players should be much closer to the goal.
Second, the runs are very poor. Players are most likely to just stand 'til the kick is taken, then they start moving a little bit. Still - no actual realistic runs to shake off a marker are made.

- Vidic goals, most from corners and crosses.
KONAMI should use this as an example on how to create realistic and better set-piece situations. Movement off the ball, jumping animations, heading animations, goalkeeper animations & saves, goal celebrations.

Thanks for the free kick situations explanation. 99% of the time, because of thr poisitioning erors, freekicks are useless. Players can't catch the ball, both cpu and player controlled ones. And of course, cpu always scores, if it hit the target. Keepers are a shame!

Does anyone remember European Club Soccer on the Mega Drive?

Anyway... When your paused the game to make a sub the player you chose to come on would run up and down the touchline in a tracksuit warming up before the ball next went out of play.

This would be a good addition.

Good vid. The fouls inconsistency is an essential improvement for 2012.

@ sabu

There only couple of faul animations, I mean players fall almost the same way when they get fouled.
And there are only a few heading animations especially when attacking.
These animations repeat themselves independently from the situation or context.
Can you make a video about these repeated animations also? Thanks.

Please you guys can do it everything but keep the tricks of pes 2011 because is the very important for me play in keyboard and this pes 2011 is a really nice and perfct match to keyboards players the tricks are superb and the moviments are fine just put more real pitchs and the sound like with one options to increase the sound of the players call or the sound of the ball and the net is the only thing i just have to say the fifa is better than pes because the keyboard players are fine with all and EA dont give a cent for keyboard and pes 2011 is my chice only because the keyboard is really good and playable

priorities for pes2012:

1º AI
2º AI
3º AI
4º AI
5º the rest...

AI is the base of the game, and pes fail again... AI is very, very dissapoint... example: play BAL, AI is very stupid in many moments... CPU plays like a robot... confused players in the pitch... poor and stupid kicks... AI destroy the fun in BAL... In Master League offline AI make the game very easy in many matches, CPU dont attack, lose stupid balls in defense... Conclusion: pes2011 is good, but AI kills the game... See one real match and see pes, is different, very different...

If you want better online game, play fifa, EA will always better in online... Konami: hear the fans, Change AI 100%, real pes fans play more offline matches... leave for a moment online mode and to develop AI for offline matches... or, fifa will be the best game on offline too...

Crossing and heading. It seems near impossible for me to connect with a cross using O they always go too high.

Please get rid of the scissor kick animation, people barley do it in football and players never seem to header in PES 2011 in my experience anymore.

Old skill system back in place from the PS2 days and WE 10. For me the new feints don't work in my opinion, and are too hard to pull off.

Penalties. Old skill system back in place from the PS2 days and WE 10.

PES 2012 wishlist: Controls

Postby freedom » Tue Jan 18, 2011 11:02 am

I would love to see better use of controls and controlling your players. Here I refer to PS3 controller.

Left Analogue stick for variable running.
Instead of using R1 for sprint running it could be done with left stick. Also R1+R2 running(with ball) should be there in left stick.
Most of all there really should be more different running speeds. Best if it to be fully analogue.

Possibility to choose running speeds when using super cancel.
This could be done with left stick (see above). Now it is impossible to choose running speed with super cancel.

Possibility to determine when controlled player is magnetized to ball.
It feels now like running on rails(unless you use super cancel). If you(Konami) don´t want to get ride of it for some reasons then why not give people freedom to choose how much it should be there in the game.

L2 manual passing with L1.
Now it is semi manual if wanting to use L1 passing. It should be full manual.

Manual shooting.
This should be full manual. No assisted.

Manual player switching.
Can you please check manual player switching. It is not working properly now when your team is having the ball. I used it in earlier versions but have to use semi manual now.

Player switching.
You really should be able to choose any player you want when defending. This could be done with right stick + L1.

Strategy buttons.
Quite hard now to use on the fly with select button. Could be done with L1+L2 for example.

Second player controller.
Sometimes when controlling player with the ball I would like another player moving to some direction.I wonder if this could be done by just twisting and turning your controller.

Response to buttons.
I hope this issue should be finally worked out. Pressing some buttons and nothing happens. This is easiest to see in sidelines when tryin sliding for the ball.
We cannot solve our problems
with the same thinking
we used when we created them

Re: PES 2012 Wishlist: Gameplay

Postby martd » Tue Jan 18, 2011 3:04 pm

My apologies if these have been stated already but here are my wishes for the game

1 - strikers making runs! My strikers always sit a few yards behind the defenders and using a through ball is pointless, unless the defender makes a silly mistake. I run down the wing and i have to cut back because my strikers are beind my winger!
This didnt happen in PES 2010 or PES 2009! It really bugs me!

2 - Slide tackles (by me) that are perfectly legit tackles being called back for a foul. I'll play the ball in a slide tackle and a foul is given so often that its making me avoid playing. It works the opposite way round for the CPU though!

3 - Penalties a) None are ever given away by the CPU and b) they are awful to take (only ever tried in a shootout!)

4 - Scissor kicks at silly heights when a much better animation should be used - or a header even!

5 - I miss the old tactics where i could flick between players and see their stats in Game Plan - now i have to press triangle to see them.

6 - Substituting a player without having to go into "Game Plan"

7 - Long throws take too long so its easy to see what the opponent is going to do.

8 - Defenders being faster than the fastest wingers

9 - Confusing tactics selection

10 - (For controls really) Pressing 'Select' to change attacking stance and tactics is akward.

More to follow - maybe ;)

i think i may already posted.

BUT THE KEY FEATURES THAT REALLY NEED TO BE SORTED AMONGST EVERYTHING ELSE.

1. more animations , basic animations , like running and tacking , passing and shooting.
animations are again on top.

2. Freedom.
when i dont have the ball my players need more freedom to run where they want.
that will stop my players chasing after a ball thats going out.

3. Fluid natural movment.
this goes with animations, players need to look more natural less rigid. I want much more life like movment to make me say wow , like in the PS2 days.

4. Ball physics , may need improving. Bring the weight back to the wall and maybe the power gauge.
